8th Grade Digital Art:

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.I.VA.M.3    Select and use the visual characteristics and organizational principles of art to communicate ideas.

ART.II.VA.M.2  Employ organizational principles and analyze what makes them effective or not in the communication of ideas.

ART.II.VA.M.1  Select materials, techniques, and processes to effectively communicate ideas.

Objective:  Students will re-create a package using Adobe Illustrator while gaining a better understanding of the principles of design.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will view a powerpoint about package design.  They will look at different packages online to decide what package they would like to re-design.  Students will complete a handout about their choice of package to re-design.

Tuesday: Students will work in Illustrator to design their package.

Wednesday: Students will work in Illustrator to design their package.

Thursday:  Students will work in Illustrator to design their package.

Friday:  Students will work in Illustrator to design their package.

6th Grade Traditional Art:

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence art?

Content Standards:

Art.I.VA.M.1    Select materials, techniques, media technology, and processes to achieve desired effects.

Art.I.VA.M.2    Use art materials and tools safely and responsibly to communicate experiences and ideas.

Art.I.VA.M.4    Be involved in the process and presentation of a final product or exhibit.

Objective: To learn how to scale an image through a drawing/painting project.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will continue drawing and painting their characters.

Tuesday:  Students will continue painting their characters.

Wednesday:  Students will continue painting their characters.

Thursday:  Students will continue painting their characters.

Friday:  Students will finish painting their characters.

6th Grade Digital Art:

     Essential Question: How do life experiences influence art?

     Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.6.3 Develop a successful visual vocabulary.

ART.VA.III.6.1 Observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at a developing level.

ART.VA.IV.6.2 Develop an understanding of the historical, social, and cultural contexts of artwork with aesthetic sophistication.

ART.VA.I.6.5 Produce and exhibit a final product that demonstrates quality craftsmanship and technique at a developing level.

     Objective: Students will learn a few new tools in Photoshop and apply those new skills to create a project based off of Salvador Dali’s dream like compositions while focusing on the principle of space.  

     Agenda:

Monday: Students will watch a Powerpoint presentation about Salvador Dali. Students will then individually use the artifacts handout to find out information on the Internet about Salvador Dali. Students will then come back together as a whole group as we discuss Salvador Dali, and their findings on the artifacts sheet.

Tuesday: Students will be introduced to the project and watch a demonstration. Students will then be able to open up their photograph and start tracing themselves in Photoshop.

Wednesday: Students will be together as a whole group as we review on how to copy and paste images into Photoshop and use the Filter menu to warp and manipulate the images to become more surreal like.

Thursday: Students will start continue to create their new composition by adding in photos and manipulating them. Once a student is done and has saved on the flash drive, the student will grade themselves using the grade sheet & artist reflection as well as read the article “Master Of Illusion” as well as answer the questions.

Friday: Students will take the Salvador Dali quiz. Then they will need to finish up their project, as well as grade themselves, and read the article and answer the questions.
