7th Grade Art: 2nd hour

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

  • ART.VA.I.7.1 Understand the varying qualities of materials, techniques, media technology, and processes at an emerging level.
  • ART.VA.I.7.2 Understand the concept of proper use of art materials and using tools safely and responsibly at an emerging level.
  • ART.VA.I.7.3 Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.
  • ART.VA.II.HS.7 Create preliminaries, possibilities, and drafts at an emerging level.

Objective:  

  • To understand the concept of color theory
  • To interpret the reason for color theory
  • To design Zentagles patterns
  • To use lines to create contrast
  • To interpret the success of their own work

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will continue to work on their Contrast Projects.

Tuesday:   Students will finish their Contrast projects and begin working on a Zentangle worksheet.

Wednesday:  Students will work on the Zentangle worksheet and begin the Zentangle Hand project.

Thursday:  Students will work on the Zentangle worksheet and the Zentangle hand project.

Friday: Students will continue to work on their Zentangle Hand project.

6th Grade Digital Art: 3rd hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence art?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.6.3 Develop a successful visual vocabulary.

ART.VA.III.6.1 Observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at a developing level.

ART.VA.IV.6.2 Develop an understanding of the historical, social, and cultural contexts of artwork with aesthetic sophistication.

ART.VA.I.6.5 Produce and exhibit a final product that demonstrates quality craftsmanship and technique at a developing level.

Objective: Students will learn about Grant Wood and create a project that replicates his Regionalist style.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will watch a Powerpoint about Grant Wood and complete Artifacts about him.

Tuesday:  Students will watch a demonstration about how to create a landscape painting in the style of Grant Wood.  Students will then begin working on their project.

Wednesday:  Students will continue to work on their Grant Wood Landscape project.

Thursday:  Students will read an article about Grant Wood and answer some questions about it.  Students will then continue working on their Landscape project.

Friday:  Students will finish the Grant Wood Landscape project and take a quiz on Grant Wood.

8th Grade Digital Art: 4th hour

     Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

     Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.6.3 Develop a successful visual vocabulary.

ART.VA.III.6.1 Observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at a developing level.

ART.VA.IV.6.2 Develop an understanding of the historical, social, and cultural contexts of artwork with aesthetic sophistication.

     Objective:   Students will learn how to use new tools in Adobe Illustrator.

     Agenda:

Monday: Students will continue working on Practices 1, 2, & 3 in Illustrator.

Tuesday: Students will be introduced to the Shield Project in Illustrator.  They will start working on it in class.

Wednesday: Students will work on their shield project in Illustrator.

Thursday: Students will finish their shield project in Illustrator.

Friday: Students will be introduced to the Logo Design project.  They will begin drawing their ideas for their personal logo.

Basic Design: 5th hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

Art. I.VA.M.1   Select materials, techniques, media technology, and processes to achieve desired effects

Art.I.VA.M.2    Use art materials and tools safely and responsibly to communicate experiences and ideas.

Art.I.VA.M.3     Select and use the visual characteristics and organization principles of art to communicate ideas.

Objective: Students will learn about scale and proportion by drawing a section of a collage that they created.

Agenda:

Monday-Friday: Students will work on their Collage Scale drawings.

7th Grade Digital Art: 6th hour

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

  • ART.VA.I.7.2 Understand the concept of proper use of art materials and using tools safely and responsibly at an emerging level.

Objective:  

  • To understand the use and concepts of Adobe Photoshop
  • To design a composition using scale and proportion
  • To demonstrate the ability to use the digital camera to take photographs
  • To interpret the success of their own work

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will finish working on their Mini Me project in Photoshop.  Students will save them to a flash drive to turn in for credit.

Tuesday: Students will be introduced to the What’s in My Head project.  Students will begin gathering images for that project.

Wednesday: Students will continue to work on their What’s in My Head project.

Thursday:  Students will continue to work on their What’s in My Head project.

Friday:  Students will finish their What’s in My Head project.  Students will save them to a flash drive to turn in for credit.
