7th Grade Art: 2nd hour

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

  • ART.II.VA.M.1    Select materials, techniques, and processes to effectively communicate ideas.
  • ART.II.VA.M.5    Integrate organizational structures and characteristics to create art for different purposes.
  • ART.III.VA.M.4    Describe and compare the characteristics of personal artwork to the artwork of others.

Objective:  

  • Create an artwork that best solves an artistic problem
  • Construct an armature and build up with Papier Maché
  • Exhibit craftsmanship in process and painting

Agenda:

Monday:  Work on paper mache characters.  (Building characters if needed, using paper mache paste to cover character, etc.)

Tuesday:   Work on paper mache characters.

Wednesday:  Work on paper mache characters.

Thursday:  Work on paper mache characters.

Friday: No school, mid-winter break.

6th Grade Digital Art: 3rd hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence art?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.6.3 Develop a successful visual vocabulary.

ART.VA.III.6.1 Observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at a developing level.

ART.VA.IV.6.2 Develop an understanding of the historical, social, and cultural contexts of artwork with aesthetic sophistication.

ART.VA.I.6.5 Produce and exhibit a final product that demonstrates quality craftsmanship and technique at a developing level.

Objective: Students will learn a few new tools in Photoshop and apply those new skills to create a project based off of Edvard Munch’s artwork “The Scream.”

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will watch a Powerpoint about Edvard Munch and complete Artifacts about him.

Tuesday:  Students will watch a demonstration about how to create their own Scream painting.  Students will then begin working on their project.

Wednesday:  Students will then continue to work on their Scream paintings.

Thursday:  Students will finish their portrait project and take a quiz on Edvard Munch.

Friday:  NO school, Mid-winter break.

8th Grade Digital Art: 4th hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.I.VA.M.3     Select and use the visual characteristics and organizational principles of art to communicate ideas.

ART.II.VA.M.6    Organize information and ideas for media productions.

ART.III.VA.M.4   Describe and compare the characteristics of personal artwork to the artwork of others.

ART.IV.VA.M.3    Anaylze, describe, and demonstrate how factors of time and place (such as climate, resources, ideas, and technology) influence visual characteristics that give meaning and value to a work of art.

Objective:   Students will create a Shoe Advertisement in Adobe Illustrator.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will finish working on their movie posters.  Students will complete a self-evaluation.

Tuesday: Powerpoint, discussion, worksheet.

Wednesday: Students will begin working on their shoe advertisement project.

Thursday: Students will continue working on their shoe ad project.

Friday: NO School, Mid-winter break

Basic Design: 5th hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

Art. I.VA.M.1   Select materials, techniques, media technology, and processes to achieve desired effects

Art.I.VA.M.2    Use art materials and tools safely and responsibly to communicate experiences and ideas.

Art.I.VA.M.3     Select and use the visual characteristics and organization principles of art to communicate ideas.

Objective: 

1.Know how artists use value (grayscale) to balance color in a painting
2.Learn advanced color combinations
3.Understand the concept of Typography
4.Improve painting skills

Agenda:

Monday:  Powerpoint, discussion, worksheet to gather ideas.

Tuesday:   Students will begin working on their typography of their words.

Wednesday:   Students will continue working on their typography.

Thursday: Students will begin working on their images to go with their typography.

Friday:  No school, mid-winter break.

7th Grade Digital Art: 6th hour

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

  • ART.VA.I.7.1 Understand the varying qualities of materials, techniques, media technology, and processes at an emerging level.
  • ART.VA.I.7.2 Understand the concept of proper use of art materials and using tools safely and responsibly at an emerging level.
  • ART.VA.I.7.3 Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.
  • ART.VA.II.HS.7 Create preliminaries, possibilities, and drafts at an emerging level.

Objective:  

  • To create a “forced perspective” photograph
  • To create a manipulated photograph
  • To demonstrate the ability to manipulate photographs to fit the student’s work
  • To interpret the success of their own work

Agenda:

Monday:  Class discussion about Forced perspective photos that were created.  Students will write about their photos and discuss as a class.

Tuesday:  Class discussion about “Multiples of Me” project.  Students will get ideas of where they want to do these photos and what they will be doing in them.

Wednesday: Students will take photos for their project.

Thursday:  Students will use the photos they took to create a final photo.

Friday:  No school, mid-winter break.
