7th Grade Art: 2nd hour

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

  • ART.II.VA.M.1    Select materials, techniques, and processes to effectively communicate ideas.
  • ART.II.VA.M.5    Integrate organizational structures and characteristics to create art for different purposes.
  • ART.III.VA.M.4    Describe and compare the characteristics of personal artwork to the artwork of others.

Objective:  

  • Create an artwork that best solves an artistic problem
  • Construct an armature and build up with Papier Maché
  • Exhibit craftsmanship in process and painting

Agenda:

Monday:  Finish all work on Paper Mache Characters!

Tuesday:   Exam Review game

Wednesday:  Take final exam.  Finish work in any left over time.

Thursday:  Take final exam if absent yesterday.  Finish any left over work.

Friday: NO school-records day!

6th Grade Digital Art: 3rd hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence art?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.6.3 Develop a successful visual vocabulary.

ART.VA.III.6.1 Observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at a developing level.

ART.VA.IV.6.2 Develop an understanding of the historical, social, and cultural contexts of artwork with aesthetic sophistication.

ART.VA.I.6.5 Produce and exhibit a final product that demonstrates quality craftsmanship and technique at a developing level.

Objective: Students will study for final exam and take final exam.

Agenda:

Monday:  Review/study guide for final exam.

Tuesday:  Take final exam.

Wednesday:  Finish any missing work.  Take final exam if absent yesterday.

Thursday:  Finish any missing work.

Friday:  No school-records day!

8th Grade Digital Art: 4th hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.I.VA.M.3     Select and use the visual characteristics and organizational principles of art to communicate ideas.

ART.II.VA.M.6    Organize information and ideas for media productions.

ART.III.VA.M.4   Describe and compare the characteristics of personal artwork to the artwork of others.

ART.IV.VA.M.3    Anaylze, describe, and demonstrate how factors of time and place (such as climate, resources, ideas, and technology) influence visual characteristics that give meaning and value to a work of art.

Objective:   Students will create a Self-Portrait in Adobe Illustrator.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will view examples of former student’s self-portraits.  Students will begin working on their own self-portrait while individual performance testing takes place.

Tuesday: Students will work on their own self-portrait while individual performance testing takes place.

Wednesday: Students will work on their own self-portrait while individual performance testing takes place.

Thursday: Students will finish their own self-portrait while individual performance testing takes place.

Friday: NO school-records day!

Basic Design: 5th hour

Art.I.VA.M.2    Use art materials and tools safely and responsibly to communicate experiences and ideas.

Art.I.VA.M.3     Select and use the visual characteristics and organization principles of art to communicate ideas.

Objective: 

1.Know how artists use value (grayscale) to balance color in a painting
2.Learn advanced color combinations
3.Understand the concept of Typography
4.Improve painting skills

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will continue working on their paintings.

Tuesday:   Students will continue working on their paintings.

Wednesday:   Students will continue painting their backgrounds.

Thursday: Students will finish working on their paintings.

Friday:  No school-records day!

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

  • ART.VA.I.7.1 Understand the varying qualities of materials, techniques, media technology, and processes at an emerging level.
  • ART.VA.I.7.2 Understand the concept of proper use of art materials and using tools safely and responsibly at an emerging level.
  • ART.VA.I.7.3 Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.
  • ART.VA.II.HS.7 Create preliminaries, possibilities, and drafts at an emerging level.

Objective:  

  • To create a “forced perspective” photograph
  • To create a manipulated photograph
  • To demonstrate the ability to manipulate photographs to fit the student’s work
  • To interpret the success of their own work

Agenda:

Monday:  Study guide for final exam.

Tuesday:  Students will take final exam and complete any missing work if time allows.

Wednesday: Students will finish any missing work.

Thursday:  Students will finish any missing work.

Friday:  NO school-records day!
