8th Grade Art: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Objective:  Students will learn the classroom expectations and procedures and will be introduced to the Elements and Principles of Design.  Students will also take the class pre-test.

Agenda:

Monday: Read Syllabus, go over classroom expectations and procedures, view class powerpoint, student interest survey

Tuesday: Review expectations and procedures, take expectations quiz, finish student interest survey

Wednesday: Review expectations and procedures, take pre-test

Thursday: Review expectations and procedures, discuss first assignment and view powerpoint, begin first assignment

Friday: Work on first assignment

Basic Design: 5th hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

Art. I.VA.M.1   Select materials, techniques, media technology, and processes to achieve desired effects

Art.I.VA.M.2    Use art materials and tools safely and responsibly to communicate experiences and ideas.

Art.I.VA.M.3     Select and use the visual characteristics and organization principles of art to communicate ideas.

Objective: 

1.Know how artists use value (grayscale) to balance color in a painting
2.Learn advanced color combinations
3.Understand the concept of Typography
4.Improve painting skills

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will continue working on their paintings.

Tuesday:   Students will continue working on their paintings.

Wednesday:   All paintings and late work due for grading!  Discussion of types of sculpture/3D artwork.  Look at examples of quilling.  Begin quilling project.

Thursday:  Work on quilling project.

Friday:  Work on quilling project.
