8th Grade Art: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.8.1     Apply understanding of the varying qualities of materials, techniques, media technology, and processes to the selection of appropriate tools and media to design and solve creative problems and achieve desired artistic effects.

ART.VA.II.8.2    Effectively develop and apply critical thinking strategies through the art making process.

ART.VA.III.8.3    Effectively describe how the artist’s choice of materials, techniques, media technology, and processes influence the viewer.

Objective:  Students will learn about Victor Vasserly and Optical Art.  They will create their own Optical Illusion drawing.

Agenda:

Monday: Powerpoint and discussion about Op Art and Victor Vasserly.  Students will begin working on their design.

Tuesday:  Students will work on their Op Art projects.

Wednesday: Students will work on their Op Art projects.

Thursday: Students will work on their Op Art projects.

Friday: Students will finish their Op Art projects and complete a self-evaluation.

6th Grade Digital Art: 2nd hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence art?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.6.3 Develop a successful visual vocabulary.

ART.VA.III.6.1 Observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at a developing level.

ART.VA.IV.6.2 Develop an understanding of the historical, social, and cultural contexts of artwork with aesthetic sophistication.

ART.VA.I.6.5 Produce and exhibit a final product that demonstrates quality craftsmanship and technique at a developing level.

Objective: Students will create their first project in Adobe Photoshop, mimicking the same style as Andy Warhol and his pop art work.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will finish a mini-project in Photoshop that was started on Friday.

Tuesday:  Students will learn about Andy Warhol and Pop Art through a Powerpoint and an Artifacts worksheet.

Wednesday:  Students will be introduced to the Pop Art Yourself project and begin working on it.

Thursday:  Students will continue to work on their Pop Art Yourself project.

Friday:  Students will finish the Pop Art Yourself project and take a quiz on Andy Warhol.

7th Grade Digital Art: 3rd hour

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.I.VA.M.3    Select and use the visual characteristics and organizational principles of art to communicate ideas.

ART.II.VA.M.2  Employ organizational principles and analyze what makes them effective or not in the communication of ideas.

ART.II.VA.M.1  Select materials, techniques, and processes to effectively communicate ideas.

Objective:  Students will learn about the cameras we will be using in class and how to use them.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will finish working on a Photoshop mini project that was started on Friday.  They will learn how to save properly to a flash drive.

Tuesday: Students will work together on a camera exploration worksheet.  They will be learning about what the cameras do and how they work.

Wednesday: Students will learn about the camera expectations and take a quiz about the cameras.  Students will practice using the cameras.

Thursday:  Students will go out on their first photography assignment.

Friday:  Students will use their photos that they took yesterday to create their first photo project in Photoshop.

Basic Design: 5th hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Art.I.VA.M.2    Use art materials and tools safely and responsibly to communicate experiences and ideas.

Art.I.VA.M.3     Select and use the visual characteristics and organization principles of art to communicate ideas.

Objective: Students will create a low-relief sculpture using paper.

Agenda:

Monday:  Work on quilling project.

Tuesday:   Work on quilling project.

Wednesday:   Work on quilling project.

Thursday:  Work on quilling project.

Friday:  Work on quilling project.

Monday:  Students will be introduced to a new tool and will use it in a mini project.

Tuesday: Students will be introduced to another new tool in Illustrator and use it in a mini project.

Wednesday: Students will be introduced to another new tool in Illustrator and use it on a practice project in Illustrator.

Thursday: Students will continue using new tools and working on practice projects in Illustrator.

Friday: Students will continue using new tools and working on practice projects in Illustrator.
