8th Grade Art: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.8.1     Apply understanding of the varying qualities of materials, techniques, media technology, and processes to the selection of appropriate tools and media to design and solve creative problems and achieve desired artistic effects.

ART.VA.II.8.2    Effectively develop and apply critical thinking strategies through the art making process.

ART.VA.III.8.3    Effectively describe how the artist’s choice of materials, techniques, media technology, and processes influence the viewer.

Objective:  Students will learn about perspective drawing and create a city street using this technique.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will finish their Op Art projects and complete a self-evaluation.

Tuesday:  Students will be introduced to perspective drawing.  Students will complete a worksheet with demo by teacher.

Wednesday:  Students will finish the perspective worksheet and begin working on their city street projects.

Thursday:  Students will work on their city street projects.

Friday: No School-Spring Break!

6th Grade Digital Art: 2nd hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence art?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.6.3 Develop a successful visual vocabulary.

ART.VA.III.6.1 Observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at a developing level.

ART.VA.IV.6.2 Develop an understanding of the historical, social, and cultural contexts of artwork with aesthetic sophistication.

ART.VA.I.6.5 Produce and exhibit a final product that demonstrates quality craftsmanship and technique at a developing level.

Objective: Students will learn about Grant Wood and create a project that replicates his Regionalist style.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will watch a Powerpoint about Grant Wood and complete Artifacts about him.

Tuesday:  Students will watch a demonstration about how to create a landscape painting in the style of Grant Wood.  Students will then begin working on their project.

Wednesday:  Students will continue to work on their Grant Wood Landscape project.

Thursday:  Students will read an article about Grant Wood and answer some questions about it.  Students will then continue working on their Landscape project.

Friday:  Students will finish the Grant Wood Landscape project and take a quiz on Grant Wood.

7th Grade Digital Art: 3rd hour

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

  • ART.VA.I.7.1 Understand the varying qualities of materials, techniques, media technology, and processes at an emerging level.
  • ART.VA.I.7.2 Understand the concept of proper use of art materials and using tools safely and responsibly at an emerging level.
  • ART.VA.I.7.3 Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

Objective:  

  • To understand the use and concepts of Adobe Photoshop
  • To design a composition using scale and proportion
  • To demonstrate the ability to use the digital camera to take photographs
  • To interpret the success of their own work

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will finish working on their Mini Me project in Photoshop.  Students will save them to a flash drive to turn in for credit.  Students will learn about Focal Points and take photos for their focal point project.

Tuesday: Students will work on their focal point projects.

Wednesday:   Students will be introduced to the What’s in My Head project.  Students will begin gathering images for that project.

Thursday:  Students will work on and finish their What’s in My Head project.  Students will save them to a flash drive to turn in for credit.

Friday:  No School-Spring Break!

Basic Design: 5th hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

Art. I.VA.M.1   Select materials, techniques, media technology, and processes to achieve desired effects

Art.I.VA.M.2    Use art materials and tools safely and responsibly to communicate experiences and ideas.

Art.I.VA.M.3     Select and use the visual characteristics and organization principles of art to communicate ideas.

Objective: Students will create a low-relief sculpture using paper.

Agenda:

Monday:  Work on quilling project.

Tuesday:   Work on quilling project.

Wednesday:   Work on quilling project.

Thursday:  Quilling projects are due!  Self-evaluation will be completed.

Friday:  No school-Spring Break!

     Objective:   Students will learn how to use new tools in Adobe Illustrator.

     Agenda:

Monday:  Students will be introduced to a new tool and will use it in a mini project-type on a path.

Tuesday: Students will be introduced to another new tool in Illustrator and use it in a mini project-blending shapes.

Wednesday: Students will be introduced to another new tool in Illustrator and use it on a practice project in Illustrator-Shield project.

Thursday: Students will continue using new tools and working on practice projects in Illustrator-Shield project.

Friday: No school-Spring Break!
