8th Grade Art: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.8.1     Apply understanding of the varying qualities of materials, techniques, media technology, and processes to the selection of appropriate tools and media to design and solve creative problems and achieve desired artistic effects.

ART.VA.II.8.2    Effectively develop and apply critical thinking strategies through the art making process.

ART.VA.III.8.3    Effectively describe how the artist’s choice of materials, techniques, media technology, and processes influence the viewer.

Objective:  Students will learn about perspective drawing and create a city street using this technique.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will begin coloring and outlining their city street projects.

Tuesday:  (Sub all day.)  Students will work on their city street projects.

Wednesday:  Students will finish their city street projects.  Students will complete a self-evaluation.

Thursday:  Students will be introduced to the Multi-Media drawing project.

Friday: Students will work on their Multi-media drawing project.

6th Grade Digital Art: 2nd hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence art?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.6.3 Develop a successful visual vocabulary.

ART.VA.III.6.1 Observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at a developing level.

ART.VA.IV.6.2 Develop an understanding of the historical, social, and cultural contexts of artwork with aesthetic sophistication.

ART.VA.I.6.5 Produce and exhibit a final product that demonstrates quality craftsmanship and technique at a developing level.

Objective: Students will learn about Leonardo Da Vinci and create their own version of the Mona Lisa.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will watch a Powerpoint about Leonardo Da Vinci and complete Artifacts about him.

Tuesday:  ( Sub all day.)  Students will watch a demonstration about how to begin creating their own Mona Lisa.  Students will then begin working on their project.

Wednesday:   Students will read an article about Leonardo Da Vinci and answer some questions about it.  Students will then continue working on their Mona Lisa project.

Thursday:  Students will continue to work on their Mona Lisa project.

Friday:  Students will finish the Mona Lisa project and take a quiz on Leonardo Da Vinci.

7th Grade Digital Art: 3rd hour

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

  • ART.VA.I.7.1 Understand the varying qualities of materials, techniques, media technology, and processes at an emerging level.
  • ART.VA.I.7.2 Understand the concept of proper use of art materials and using tools safely and responsibly at an emerging level.
  • ART.VA.I.7.3 Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

Objective:  

  • To understand the use and concepts/tools in Adobe Photoshop
  • To create a book of different types of photography
  • To demonstrate the ability to use the digital camera to take photographs
  • To interpret the success of their own work

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will finish working on their What’s in my Head project.  Students will complete a self-evaluation.

Tuesday: (Sub all day.)  Students will be introduced to Straight Photography.

Wednesday:    Students will work on their Straight Photography books.

Thursday:  Students will work on their Straight Photography books.

Friday:  Students will finish their Straight Photography books and will complete a self-evaluation.

Basic Design: 5th hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

Art. I.VA.M.1   Select materials, techniques, media technology, and processes to achieve desired effects

Art.I.VA.M.2    Use art materials and tools safely and responsibly to communicate experiences and ideas.

Art.I.VA.M.3     Select and use the visual characteristics and organization principles of art to communicate ideas.

Objective: Students will create a low-relief sculpture using paper.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will work on their letter projects.

Tuesday:  (Sub all day.)   Students will work on their letter projects.

Wednesday:   Students will finish their letter projects.  Students will complete a self-evaluation.

Thursday:  Students will be introduced to clay.

Friday:  ( Sub in the PM)  Students will work on their clay projects.

8th Grade Digital Art: 6th hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.IV.6.2 Develop an understanding of the historical, social, and cultural contexts of artwork with aesthetic sophistication.

     Objective:   Students will learn how to use new tools in Adobe Illustrator.

     Agenda:

Monday: Students will narrow down their ideas for their logo and describe how they would create them on the computer.

Tuesday:  (Sub all day.)  Students will choose one design to create on the computer.  Students will begin designing their logo on the computer in Adobe Illustrator.

Wednesday: Students will work on their logo design on the computers.

Thursday: Students will work on their logo design on the computers.

Friday: Students will finish their logo design on the computers.  Students will complete a self-evaluation.
