8th Grade Art: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

Art.I.VA.M.2     Use art materials and tools safely and responsibly to communicate experiences and ideas.

ART.VA.II.8.6  Make knowledgeable choices about materials, techniques, media technology, organizational principles, and processes to effectively articulate ideas and communicate intended meaning.

Objective: 

  • Students will learn how to draw a face in proportion
  • Students will use tools a materials effectively to communicate ideas
  • Students will create a self-portrait

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will work on their self-portraits.

Tuesday:  Students will work on their self-portraits.

Wednesday:  Students will finish their self-portraits.  Students will complete a self-evaluation.

Thursday:  Students will review for their final exam.

Friday: Students will take their final exam.

6th Grade Digital Art: 2nd hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence art?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.6.3 Develop a successful visual vocabulary.

ART.VA.III.6.1 Observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at a developing level.

ART.VA.IV.6.2 Develop an understanding of the historical, social, and cultural contexts of artwork with aesthetic sophistication.

ART.VA.I.6.5 Produce and exhibit a final product that demonstrates quality craftsmanship and technique at a developing level.

Objective: Students will finish all work.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will have a work day to complete any missing assignments.

Tuesday:   Students will have a work day to complete any missing assignments.

Wednesday:   Students will have a work day to complete any missing assignments.

Thursday:  Students will review for their final exam.

Friday:  Students will take their final exam.

7th Grade Digital Art: 3rd hour

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.5 Produce and exhibit a final product that demonstrates quality craftsmanship and technique at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.4 Initiate new ideas employing inventiveness and innovation at an emerging level with increasing independence.

ART.VA.III.7.2 Interpret artwork searching for embedded meaning, function, and personal connections at an emerging level.

ART.VA.IV.7.1 Recognize, describe and analyze, and evaluate how art contributes to and reflects all societies and cultures at an emerging level.

Objective:  

  • To create a morphed photograph
  • To demonstrate the ability to manipulate photographs to fit the student’s work
  • To interpret the success of their own work

Agenda:

Monday:   Students will be introduced to the Human Hybrid, If I Could be Anyone and Zombie Yourself projects.  All  are based on the same principles, so students will get to choose which one they want to create.  Extras that are created will be counted as extra credit.  Students will work on their project.

TuesdayStudents will work on their morphed project.

Wednesday:    Students will work on their morphed project.  Students will complete a self-evaluation when finished.

Thursday:  Students will review for their final exam.

Friday:  Students will take their final exam.

Objective:  Students will finish any and all work.

Monday: Students will finish all work.

Tuesday: Students will finish all work.

Wednesday:  Students will finish all work.

Thursday:  Students will review for their final exam.

Friday:  Students will take their final exam.

ART.VA.I.8.3 Select and apply visual characteristics and organizational principles to communicate effectively when designing and solving creative problems.

ART.VA.II.8.5 Consistently demonstrate reflective thinking practices when identifying, designing, and solving creative problems.

ART.VA.V.8.2 Effectively recognize and describe the skills used in visual arts careers.

     Objective: 

  • Students will re-design a food label
  • Students will understand and use the principles of design
  • Students will learn how to use the basic tools in Adobe Illustrator

     Agenda:

Monday:  Students will work on their label re-designs in Illustrator.

Tuesday: Students will work on their label re-designs in Illustrator.

Wednesday:   Students will work on their label re-designs in Illustrator.

Thursday:  Students will finish their label re-design project.  Students will complete a self-evaluation.

Friday: Students will work take their final exam.
