8th Grade Digital Art: 1st and 6th hours

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.6.3 Develop a successful visual vocabulary.

ART.VA.III.6.1 Observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at a developing level.

ART.VA.IV.6.2 Develop an understanding of the historical, social, and cultural contexts of artwork with aesthetic sophistication.

     Objective:   Students will learn how to use new tools in Adobe Illustrator.

     Agenda:

Monday: Review expectations, review elements & principles of design, finish group work (1st hour), beginning Illustrator (6th hour), Correctly save folders to a flash drive

Tuesday: Students will be introduced to new tools in Illustrator, learn shortcuts of illustrator

Wednesday: Students will continue to learn new tools in Illustrator; name design

Thursday: Students will continue using new tools and working on practice projects in Illustrator; type on a path

Friday: Students will continue using new tools and working on practice projects in Illustrator; blended shapes

7th Grade Art: 2nd, 3rd and 5th hours

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.2    Understand the concept of proper use of art materials and using tools safely and responsibly at an emerging level.

ART.VA.I.7.5    Produce and exhibit a final product that demonstrates quality craftsmanship and technique at an emerging level.

ART.VA.V.7.1    Recognize and describe, personal, family, and community connections with artworks at an emerging level.

Objective:  Students will create a project using their name.

Agenda:

Monday:  Discussion about homework, review elements & principles of design, finish half self-portraits

Tuesday:  Discussion of first project, Name Design, and begin working on project

Wednesday:  Continue working on Name Design project

Thursday:  Continue working on Name Design project

Friday:  Continue working on Name Design project
