8th Grade Digital Art: 1st and 6th hours

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.8.3    Select and apply visual characteristics and organizational principles to communicate effectively when designing and solving creative problems.

ART.VA.II.8.1    Effectively identify, design, and solve creative problems.

ART.VA.II.8.7    Apply preliminaries, possibilities, and drafts in the creative problem solving process.

ART.VA.V.8.2    Effectively recognize and describe the skills used in visual arts careers.

     Objective:   Students will learn how to use new tools in Adobe Illustrator.

     Agenda:

Monday: Finish creating shield project, powerpoint about graphic design, discussion and powerpoint about logos

Tuesday: Continue discussion about logos, logo sketches

Wednesday: Narrow down sketches, logo worksheet 2

Thursday: Choose a final design and begin creating personal logo on the computer

Friday: Finish designing personal logo on the computer

7th Grade Art: 2nd, 3rd and 5th hours

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.2    Understand the concept of proper use of art materials and using tools safely and responsibly at an emerging level.

ART.VA.IV.7.2    Articulate an understanding of the historical, social, and cultural contexts of artwork with an emerging level of aesthetic sophistication.

ART.VA.I.7.5    Produce and exhibit a final product that demonstrates quality craftsmanship and technique at an emerging level.

Objective:  Students will create a Pop Art print.

Agenda:

Monday:  Warm up sketch, Powerpoint and discussion about Pop Art, sketch idea and transfer sketch to printing plate

Tuesday:  Warm up sketch, demo printing process, create prints

Wednesday:  Warm up sketch, reminder of printing process, continue creating prints

Thursday:  Warm up sketch, discussion and demo of Watercolor Stained Glass project, begin drawings

Friday:  Warm up sketch, continue watercolor stained glass drawings
