8th Grade Digital Art: 1st and 6th hours

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.I.VA.M.3     Select and use the visual characteristics and organizational principles of art to communicate ideas.

 ART.II.VA.M.6   Organize information and ideas for media productions.

 ART.III.VA.M.4   Describe and compare the characteristics of personal artwork to the artwork of others.

 ART.IV.VA.M.3   Anaylze, describe, and demonstrate how factors of time and place (such as climate, resources, ideas, and technology) influence visual characteristics that give meaning and value to a work of art.

     Objective:   To learn about Industrial Design and design a head board and foot board for a Stryker S3 bed.

     Agenda:

Monday: Students will research Industrial design.  (Sub all day.)

Tuesday:  Students will watch a video about the Stryker bed and design project.  Students will sketch an idea that they want to create on the computer.

Wednesday: Students will begin designing their head board and foot board in Adobe Illustrator.

Thursday: Students will work on their designs.

Friday:  1/2 day, AM schedule

7th Grade Art: 2nd, 3rd and 5th hours

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.2    Understand the concept of proper use of art materials and using tools safely and responsibly at an emerging level.

ART.VA.IV.7.2    Articulate an understanding of the historical, social, and cultural contexts of artwork with an emerging level of aesthetic sophistication.

ART.VA.I.7.5    Produce and exhibit a final product that demonstrates quality craftsmanship and technique at an emerging level.

Objective:  Students will create a Monochromatic Painting of an animal.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will work on a mixed square drawing. (Sub all day.)

Tuesday:  Students will learn about color theory and complete a worksheet.

Wednesday:  Students will mix paint to create a value scale.  Students will begin working on their monochromatic paintings.

Thursday:  Students will work on their monochromatic paintings.

Friday:  1/2 day, AM schedule
