8th Grade Digital Art: 1st and 6th hours

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.I.VA.M.3     Select and use the visual characteristics and organizational principles of art to communicate ideas.

 ART.II.VA.M.6   Organize information and ideas for media productions.

 ART.III.VA.M.4   Describe and compare the characteristics of personal artwork to the artwork of others.

 ART.IV.VA.M.3   Anaylze, describe, and demonstrate how factors of time and place (such as climate, resources, ideas, and technology) influence visual characteristics that give meaning and value to a work of art.

     Objective:   To learn about the Illustration career field and design a Movie Poster.

     Agenda:

Monday:  Students will finish designing their movie posters on the computer.

Tuesday:   Students will learn about package design as a career and complete a research worksheet about it.

Wednesday:  Students will be introduced to the label re-design project and will complete a design worksheet about their package.

Thursday:  Students will begin designing their package on the computer.

Friday:  Students will continue designing their package on the computer.

7th Grade Art: 2nd and 3rd hours

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.2    Understand the concept of proper use of art materials and using tools safely and responsibly at an emerging level.

ART.VA.IV.7.2    Articulate an understanding of the historical, social, and cultural contexts of artwork with an emerging level of aesthetic sophistication.

ART.VA.I.7.5    Produce and exhibit a final product that demonstrates quality craftsmanship and technique at an emerging level.

Objective:  Students will create an Op art project with patterns and pieces that pop off the paper.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will finish working on their objects in color project.  Students will complete a self-assessment when finished.

Tuesday:  Students will be introduced to the Op art project and will begin creating it.

Wednesday:  Students will continue to work on their Op art project.

Thursday:  Students will continue to work on their Op art project

Friday:  Students will finish working on theirOp art project.  Students will complete a self-assessment when finished.

Friday:  Students will finish their paper mache characters.
