8th Grade Art: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn the classroom expectations and procedures and will be introduced to the Elements and Principles of Design.  Students will also take the class pre-test.

Agenda:

Monday: Read Syllabus, go over classroom expectations and procedures, view class powerpoint, Who am I? Circle map

Tuesday: Review expectations and procedures, take pre-test, discussion of Elements and Principles of Design – tree map

Wednesday: Review expectations and procedures, Sketchbook cover, first sketch

Thursday: Review expectations and procedures, discussion of first project, begin first project-Name Design

Friday: Work on name design project, first homework assignment goes home today

6th Grade Art: 2nd and 3rd hours

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence Art?

Content Standards:

Objective:  Students will learn the classroom expectations and procedures.  Students will be introduced to the Elements and Principles of Design.  Students will take the class pre-test.  Students will begin working on their name design project.

Agenda:

Objective:  Students will learn the classroom expectations and procedures.  Students will be introduced to the Elements and Principles of Design.  Students will take the class pre-test.  Students will begin working on their collage-scale drawing project.
