Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn about Mandalas and create one of their own.

Agenda:

Monday: Review homework, discussion/demo of Mandala project, finish Name design and work on Mandala

Tuesday: Warm up sketch, project review, work on Mandala

Wednesday: Project review, work on Mandala

Thursday: Warm up sketch, project review, work on Mandala

Friday: Project review, work on Mandala

6th Grade Art: 2nd and 3rd hours

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence Art?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.6.2 Develop the concept of proper use of art materials and using tools safely and responsibly.

ART.VA.II.6.2 Develop and apply critical thinking strategies through the art making process at a developing level.

ART.VA.I.6.5 Produce and exhibit a final product that demonstrates quality craftsmanship and technique at a developing level.

ART.VA.II.6.6 Make knowledgeable choices about materials, techniques, media technology, organizational principles, and processes to articulate ideas and communicate intended meaning at a developing level.

Objective:  Students will create an Op Art inspired project using their hand.

Agenda:

Monday: Review homework, discussion/demo of Op Art Hand project, work on Hand project

Tuesday: Warm up sketch, project review, work on Hand project

Wednesday: Project review, work on Hand project

Thursday: Warm up sketch, project review, work on Hand project

Friday: Project review, finish Hand project, complete self-assessment

8th Grade Basic Design: 5th hour

Essential Question:  How does Art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

Art. I.VA.M.1   Select materials, techniques, media technology, and processes to achieve desired effects

Art.I.VA.M.2   Use art materials and tools safely and responsibly to communicate experiences and ideas.

Art.I.VA.M.3     Select and use the visual characteristics and organization principles of art to communicate ideas.

Objective:  Students will learn about scale and proportion by drawing a section of a collage that they created.

Agenda:

Monday: Review Homework, demo on grid drawing, finish working on collages for project

Tuesday: Review project, work on drawing grids and drawing square by square

Wednesday: Review project, continue to work on drawing

Thursday: Review project, demo on colored pencil blending, continue to work on drawing, begin coloring

Friday: Review project, continue to work on project

7th Grade Digital Art: 6th hour

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.1   Understand the varying qualities of materials, techniques, media technology, and processes at an emerging level.

ART.VA.I.7.5   Produce and exhibit a final product that demonstrates quality craftsmanship and technique at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1   Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective:  Students will learn how the cameras work and use the cameras and Photoshop to create their first project.

Agenda:

Monday: Review homework, camera expectations powerpoint, camera exploration worksheet

Tuesday: Camera expectations quiz, Digital Photography worksheet

Wednesday: Powerpoint of “Mini Me” project, review expectations, take photos for project

Thursday: Review project, use photos in Photoshop to create “Mini Me” project

Friday: Finish “Mini Me” project, complete self-assessment
