8th Grade Art: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.8.1   Apply understanding of the varying qualities of materials, techniques, media technology, and processes to the selection of appropriate tools and media to design and solve creative problems and achieve desired artistic effects.

ART.VA.I.8.5   Effectively produce and exhibit a final product that demonstrates quality craftsmanship and technique.

ART.VA.II.8.7   Apply preliminaries, possibilities, and drafts in the creative problem solving process.

ART.VA.IV.8.2   Articulate an understanding of the historical, social, and cultural contexts of artwork with aesthetic sophistication.

Objective:  Students will create a painting of Superman or Wonder Woman in a Pop Art style.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will work on painting their Pop Art Comic projects.

Tuesday: Students will work on painting their Pop Art Comic projects.

Wednesday: Students will work on painting their Pop Art Comic projects.

Thursday: Students will work on painting their Pop Art Comic projects.

Friday: Students will work on painting their Pop Art Comic projects.  When finished, students will complete a self-evaluation.

6th Grade Art: 2nd and 3rd hours

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence Art?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.6.5 Produce and exhibit a final product that demonstrates quality craftsmanship and technique at a developing level.

ART.VA.I.6.2 Develop the concept of proper use of art materials and using tools safely and responsibly.

ART.VA.I.6.4 Develop reflective thinking skills by observing, analyzing, and critically evaluating works of art for the purpose of improving technical quality.

ART.VA.II.6.7 Create preliminaries, possibilities, and drafts at a developing level.

ART.VA.III.6.1 Observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at a developing level.

Objective:  Students will create a painting of a cartoon character.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will be introduced to the painting project.  Students will choose a character to paint and print it off of the computers.

Tuesday:  Students will trace their character.  Students will begin to paint their characters.

Wednesday:  Students will work on painting their character.

Thursday:  Students will finish painting their character.

Friday:   Students will have a work day to finish all missing work.

8th Grade Basic Design: 5th hour

Essential Question:  How does Art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

Art. I.VA.M.1   Select materials, techniques, media technology, and processes to achieve desired effects

Art.I.VA.M.2   Use art materials and tools safely and responsibly to communicate experiences and ideas.

Art.I.VA.M.3     Select and use the visual characteristics and organization principles of art to communicate ideas.

Objective:  Students will create a multi-media project.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will work on their multi-media projects.

Tuesday:  Students will work on their multi-media projects.

Wednesday:  Students will work on their multi-media projects.

Thursday: Students will work on their multi-media projects.

Friday: Students will work on their multi-media projects.  When finished, students will compete a self-evaluation.

7th Grade Digital Art: 6th hour

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.1   Understand the varying qualities of materials, techniques, media technology, and processes at an emerging level.

ART.VA.I.7.5   Produce and exhibit a final product that demonstrates quality craftsmanship and technique at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1   Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective:  Students will create a “multiples of me” project.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will be introduced to the multiples of me project.  Students will partner up and go out and take photos for their projects.

Tuesday:  Students will finish taking photos with their partners.  Students will upload all their photos to the computers.

Wednesday: Students will work in photoshop to put all of their photos into one final photo.  Students will complete a self-evaluation when finished.

Thursday: Students will create a Human Hybrid photo. 

Friday: Students will have a work day to complete any missing work.
