8th Grade Digital Art: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn the classroom expectations and procedures and will be introduced to the Elements and Principles of Design.  Students will also take the class pre-test.

Agenda:

Monday: Read Syllabus, go over classroom expectations and procedures, view class powerpoint, Facebook Get to Know You worksheet

Tuesday: Review expectations and procedures, take pre-test, discussion of Elements and Principles of Design – tree map

Wednesday: Review expectations and procedures, create student folders on the computers, discussion of Adobe Illustrator, learn keyboard shortcuts

Thursday: Review expectations and procedures, Students will be introduced to new tools in Illustrator, create a name design

Friday: Work on name design project, first homework assignment goes home today

6th Grade Art: 2nd hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence Art?

Content Standards:

Objective:  Students will learn the classroom expectations and procedures.  Students will be introduced to the Elements and Principles of Design.  Students will take the class pre-test.  Students will begin working on their name design project.

Agenda:

Monday: Read Syllabus, go over classroom expectations and procedures, view class powerpoint, Facebook Get to Know You worksheet

Tuesday: Review expectations and procedures, take pre-test, discussion of Elements and Principles of Design – tree map

Wednesday: Review expectations and procedures, discussion of first project-Name design

Thursday: Review expectations and procedures, work on Name design project

Friday: Work on name design, first homework assignment goes home today

Thursday: Review expectations and procedures, Intro to Adobe Photoshop, Photoshop tools worksheet

Friday: Work on Photoshop tools worksheet, first homework assignment goes home today

Art.I.VA.M.2   Use art materials and tools safely and responsibly to communicate experiences and ideas.

Art.I.VA.M.3     Select and use the visual characteristics and organization principles of art to communicate ideas.

Objective:  Students will create a quilling project.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will work on their quilling projects.

Tuesday:  Students will begin their quilling projects.

Wednesday:  Students will work on their quilling projects.

Thursday: Students will work on their quilling projects.

Friday: Students will work on their quilling projects.
