8th Grade Digital Art: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn about the Graphic Design Career and create a Personal Logo.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will research the graphic design career field.  Students will review the information as a class.  Students will begin designing several possible logos.

Tuesday: MStep Testing

Wednesday: MStep Testing

Thursday: Students will finish designing their personal logos.  Students will narrow down their ideas to their top 3 ideas.

Friday: Students will begin designing their favorite logo, of their top 3, in Illustrator.

6th Grade Art: 2nd hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence Art?

Content Standards:

Objective:  Students will create a Zentangled Animal with a watercolor background.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will learn about Zentangles.  Students will complete a worksheet of 10 different possible zentangle designs that they could use in their project.

Tuesday:  Students will draw the animal of their choice to zentangle.  Students will begin doing zentangles inside their animal when their animal is drawn.

Wednesday: Students will continue to work on zentangling their animals.

Thursday: Students will learn about watercolor and will paint an abstract background with watercolor paint.

Friday: Students will cut out their zentangle animals and glue them on to their abstract watercolor backgrounds.  Students will complete a self-assessment.

7th Grade Digital Art: 3rd hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence Art?

Content Standards:

Objective:  Students will begin using the cameras and Photoshop together to create projects.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will be introduced to the focal point lesson and take photos for the project.

Tuesday: Students will work in Photoshop to complete the focal point lesson.

Wednesday: Students will be introduced to the Self-Portrait collage.  Students will follow along to create the inverted silhouette for their project.

Thursday:  Students will begin adding images to their self-portrait to create a collage.

Friday:  Students will finish working on their collages and complete a self evaluation of the project.

8th Grade Basic Design: 5th hour

Essential Question:  How does Art impact our place in the world?

Art.I.VA.M.2   Use art materials and tools safely and responsibly to communicate experiences and ideas.

Art.I.VA.M.3     Select and use the visual characteristics and organization principles of art to communicate ideas.

Objective:  Students will create a deconstructed book.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will work on their deconstructed books.

Tuesday:  Students will work on their deconstructed books.

Wednesday:  Students will work on their deconstructed books.

Thursday: Students will work on their deconstructed books.

Friday: Students will finish their deconstructed books.  Students will complete a self-evaluation.

8th Grade Art: 6th hour

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

Objective:  Students will learn about Illuminated Letters and Calligraphy.  Students will create a project that combines an Illuminated letter with a quote written in Calligraphy.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will be introduced to Illuminated letters.  Students will choose a quote to create their project with.  Students will begin designing the first letter of their quote-Illuminating it.

Tuesday: Students will work on Illuminating their letter.

Wednesday: Students will be introduced to calligraphy.  Students will complete 2 different calligraphy practice sheets.

Thursday: Students will finish practicing their quotes in calligraphy.  Students will write their quote in calligraphy on their project.

Friday: Students will finish their Illuminated quote projects.  Students will complete a self-evaluation and take a quiz.
