8th Grade Digital Art: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn about the Graphic Design Career and create a Personal Logo.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will begin designing their favorite logo, of their top 3, in Illustrator.

Tuesday: MStep Testing

Wednesday: MStep Testing

Thursday: MStep Testing

Friday: Students will finish designing their personal logo in Illustrator.

6th Grade Art: 2nd hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence Art?

Content Standards:

Objective:  Students will create a Zentangled Animal with a watercolor background.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will cut out their zentangle animals and glue them on to their abstract watercolor backgrounds.  Students will complete a self-assessment.

Tuesday:  Students will begin designing their Minecraft self-portraits.

Wednesday: Students will work on their Minecraft self-portraits.

Thursday: Students will work on their Minecraft self-portraits.

Friday:Students will complete their Minecraft self-portraits.  Students will complete a self-assessment.

7th Grade Digital Art: 3rd hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence Art?

Content Standards:

Objective:  Students will begin using the cameras and Photoshop together to create projects.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will continue adding images to their self-portrait to create a collage.

Tuesday: Students will finish working on their collages and complete a self evaluation of the project.

Wednesday: Students will be introduced to the Who’s in School project.  Students will take photos of the hallways for the project.

Thursday:  Students will begin finding people/animals to add to their school hallways.

Friday:  Students will finish working on their who’s in school projects and complete a self evaluation of the project.

8th Grade Basic Design: 5th hour

Essential Question:  How does Art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

Art. I.VA.M.1   Select materials, techniques, media technology, and processes to achieve desired effects

Art.I.VA.M.2   Use art materials and tools safely and responsibly to communicate experiences and ideas.

Art.I.VA.M.3     Select and use the visual characteristics and organization principles of art to communicate ideas.

Objective:  Students will create an architectural letter.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will be introduced to the architectural letter project.  Students will begin putting their letters together.

Tuesday:  Students will paper mache their letters.

Wednesday:  Students will finish paper mache-ing their letters.

Thursday: Students will begin putting embellishments on their letters.

Friday: Students will continue to add embellishments on their letters.

8th Grade Art: 6th hour

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

Objective:  Students will learn about Illuminated Letters and Calligraphy.  Students will create a project that combines an Illuminated letter with a quote written in Calligraphy.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will finish practicing their quotes in calligraphy.  Students will write their quote in calligraphy on their project.

Tuesday: Students will finish their Illuminated quote projects.  Students will complete a self-evaluation and take a quiz.

Wednesday: Students will be introduced to the self-portrait project.  Students will start working on their self-portraits.

Thursday: Students will work on their self-portraits.

Friday: Students will work on their self-portraits.
