8th Grade Digital Art: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn about the Fine Arts Career and will create an image in the style of Romero Britto.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will watch a powerpoint about Romero Britto.  Students will draw out their idea for their project.  Exit slip at the end of class.

Tuesday: Students will work on their Britto projects in Illustrator.

Wednesday: Students will work on their Britto projects in Illustrator.

Thursday: Students will work on their Britto projects in Illustrator.

Friday: Students will finish designing their Britto projects in Illustrator.  Students will complete a self-evaluation

6th Grade Art: 2nd hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence Art?

Content Standards:

Objective:  Students will create an abstract painting.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will finish painting their concentric circle drawings.

Tuesday:  Students will cut their paintings into squares and glue them back together in a different order to create a different composition.

Wednesday: Students will be introduced to the self-portrait project.

Thursday: Students will work on their self-portraits.

Friday:Students will work on their self-portraits.

7th Grade Digital Art: 3rd hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence Art?

Content Standards:

Objective:  Students will begin using the cameras and Photoshop together to create projects.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will learn about Rene Magritte and his surrealist style.  Students will work on their who’s in school projects.

Tuesday: MStep testing

Wednesday: MStep testing

Thursday:  Students will work on their who’s in school projects.

Friday:  Students will finish working on their who’s in school projects and complete a self evaluation of the project.

8th Grade Basic Design: 5th hour

Essential Question:  How does Art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

Art. I.VA.M.1   Select materials, techniques, media technology, and processes to achieve desired effects

Art.I.VA.M.2   Use art materials and tools safely and responsibly to communicate experiences and ideas.

Art.I.VA.M.3     Select and use the visual characteristics and organization principles of art to communicate ideas.

Objective:  Students will create an architectural letter.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will finish paper mache-ing their letters.

Tuesday:  Students will paint their letters.

Wednesday:  Students will begin putting embellishments on their letters.

Thursday: Students will continue to add embellishments on their letters.

Friday: Students will finish their letters and complete a self-evaluation.

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

Objective:  Students will learn about self-portraits and create a series of mini self-portraits.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will work on drawing their self-portraits.

Tuesday: Students will begin using different mediums to color their self-portraits.

Wednesday: Students will work on their self-portraits.

Thursday: Students will work on their self-portraits.

Friday: Students will work on their self-portraits.
