8th Grade Digital Art: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn about the Industrial Design Career and create a design for a headboard and footboard for a Stryker hospital bed.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will watch a powerpoint about the Stryker project.  Students will complete a worksheet about the Industrial Design Career pathway.  Students will complete a bubble map about their ideas for a design.  Students will finish class with an exit slip.

Tuesday: Students will work on their Stryker designs in Illustrator.

Wednesday: Students will work on their Stryker designs in Illustrator.

Thursday: 1/2 day – prep for student led conferences in Advisory groups

Friday: Students will finish designing their Stryker designs in Illustrator.  Students will complete a self-evaluation

6th Grade Art: 2nd hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence Art?

Content Standards:

Objective:  Students will create a Minecraft style self-portrait.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will work on their Minecraft self-portraits that were started last week.

Tuesday:  Students will be introduced to perspective drawing, and will begin creating their own perspective drawings.

Wednesday: Students will work on their perspective drawings.

Thursday: 1/2 day – prep for conferences in Advisory

Friday:Students will work on their perspective drawings.

7th Grade Digital Art: 3rd hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence Art?

Content Standards:

Objective:  Students will learn about MC Escher and create a Mandala.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will learn about MC Escher and Mandalas.  Students will begin creating a background for their Mandala projects.  Students will complete an exit slip before leaving class.

Tuesday: MStep testing

Wednesday: MStep testing

Thursday:  1/2 day – prep for conferences in Advisory

Friday:  Students will work on their Mandala projects.

8th Grade Basic Design: 5th hour

Essential Question:  How does Art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

Art. I.VA.M.1   Select materials, techniques, media technology, and processes to achieve desired effects

Art.I.VA.M.2   Use art materials and tools safely and responsibly to communicate experiences and ideas.

Art.I.VA.M.3     Select and use the visual characteristics and organization principles of art to communicate ideas.

Objective:  Students will create a plate of food out of clay.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will work on their clay projects.

Tuesday:  Students will begin a mixed media project, while their clay dries.

Wednesday:  Students will work on their mixed media projects.

Thursday: 1/2 day – prep for conferences in Advisory

Friday: Students will work on their mixed media projects.

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

Objective:  Students will learn about self-portraits and create a series of mini self-portraits.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will work on their self-portraits.

Tuesday: Students will finish their self-portraits and complete a self-evaluation.

Wednesday: Students will be introduced to the clay project.

Thursday: 1/2 day – prep for conferences in Advisory

Friday: Students will work on their clay projects.
