8th Grade Digital Art: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn about the Game Design Career and design a cover for a video game.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will be introduced to the Game Design career.  Students will work on a career worksheet.  Students will begin designing their ideas for their game covers on paper.

Tuesday: Students will begin working on their game covers in Illustrator.

Wednesday: Students will work on their game designs in Illustrator.

Thursday: Students will work on their game designs in Illustrator.

Friday: Students will finish designing their game designs in Illustrator.  Students will complete a self-evaluation

6th Grade Art: 2nd hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence Art?

Content Standards:

Objective:  Students will create an Aquarium Perspective drawing.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will be introduced to James Rizzi and his style of art.  Students will watch a powerpoint and begin drawing their designs.

Tuesday:  Mstep testing

Wednesday: Mstep testing

Thursday: Students will work on their Rizzi projects.

Friday:Students will work on their Rizzi projects.

7th Grade Digital Art: 3rd hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence Art?

Content Standards:

Objective:  Students will learn about Gordon Parks and create a Magazine cover.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will be introduced to Gordon Parks through a powerpoint.  Students will be introduced to the magazine cover project.  Students will complete a worksheet to gather ideas for their magazine covers.

Tuesday: Students will begin working on their magazine covers in Photoshop.

Wednesday: Students will work on their magazine covers in Photoshop.

Thursday:  Students will work on their magazine covers.

Friday:  Students will finish their Magazine covers and complete a self-evaluation.

8th Grade Basic Design: 5th hour

Essential Question:  How does Art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

Art. I.VA.M.1   Select materials, techniques, media technology, and processes to achieve desired effects

Art.I.VA.M.2   Use art materials and tools safely and responsibly to communicate experiences and ideas.

Art.I.VA.M.3     Select and use the visual characteristics and organization principles of art to communicate ideas.

Objective:  Students will create a mask.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will be introduced to the mask project.  Students will begin making their masks using plaster gauze and face molds.

Tuesday:  Students will continue to make their masks and begin painting them.

Wednesday:  Students will work on painting their masks.

Thursday: Students will work on painting their masks and adding details.

Friday: Students will finish their masks.  Students will complete a self-evaluation.

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

Objective:  Students will learn about Pop Art and will create a painting of Superman or Super Woman.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will be introduced to the Pop Art Comic project.  Students will draw their grids and begin drawing their Super Hero.

Tuesday: Students will work on drawing their Super Hero.

Wednesday: Students will work on drawing their Super Hero.

Thursday: Students will learn about color theory and begin painting their Super Hero drawings.

Friday: Students will paint their Super Hero drawings.
