8th Grade Digital Art: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn the classroom expectations and procedures and will be introduced to the Elements and Principles of Design.  Students will also take the class pre-test.

Agenda:

Tuesday: Shortened schedule for half day

Wednesday: Read Syllabus, go over classroom expectations and procedures, view class powerpoint

Thursday: Review expectations and procedures, take pre-test, discussion of Elements and Principles of Design – tree map, create student folders on computers

Friday: Shortcuts in Illustrator assignment, first homework assignment is assigned

7th Grade Art: 3rd and 5th hours

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.3      Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.3    Collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective:  Students will learn the classroom expectations and procedures and will be introduced to the Elements and Principles of Design.  Students will also take the class pre-test.

Agenda:
