8th Grade Digital Art: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.1 Effectively identify, design, and solve creative problems.

ART.VA.II.8.7    Apply preliminaries, possibilities, and drafts in the creative problem solving process.

ART.VA.V.8.2   Effectively recognize and describe the skills used in visual arts careers.

     Objective:   Students will learn about the Graphic Design Career and create a personal logo design.

     Agenda:

Monday: Students will finish creating the shield in Illustrator.  Students will save and submit their work.

Tuesday: Students will learn about the Graphic Design career.  Students will begin drawing preliminary sketches for their logo design.

Wednesday: Students will continue drawing their sketches for their logo design.  Students will narrow down their ideas to their top 3.

Thursday: Students will develop their top 3 designs further in order to select their most effective design.

Friday: Students will select their best design from their top 3 and will begin creating that design in Illustrator.

7th Grade Art: 3rd and 5th hours

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.2    Understand the concept of proper use of art materials and using tools safely and responsibly at an emerging level.

ART.VA.I.7.5    Produce and exhibit a final product that demonstrates quality craftsmanship and technique at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.1  Identify, design, and solve creative problems at an emerging level.

Objective:  Students will create a watercolor painting.

Agenda:

Monday:  Homework review, finish contour hand drawings (last day to work on them in class)

Tuesday:  Discussion of abstract art, demo of taping the border of their paper, demo of blending watercolors, paint backgrounds

Wednesday:  Demo of painting trees, paint trees

Thursday:  Finalize paintings with details

Friday:  Self-evaluation

6th Grade Art: 2nd and 6th hours

Essential Question: How do life experiences impact our Art?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.6.7    Create preliminaries, possibilities, and drafts at a developing level.

ART.VA.II.6.1  Identify, design, and solve creative problems at a developing level.

ART.VA.I.6.4  Develop reflective thinking skills by observing, analyzing, and critically evaluating works of art for the purpose of improving technical quality.

Objective:  To create a Zentangled Animal.

Agenda:

Monday:  Homework review, demo cutting and putting cubes together, work time, self-evaluation

Tuesday:  Discussion of Zentangles, Zentangle warm up/practice sheet

Wednesday:  Draw animals, begin drawing zentangles in the animals

Thursday:  Continue working on zentangling in the animals

Friday:  Continue working on zentangling in the animals, outline with sharpie when ready
