8th Grade Digital Art: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.1 Effectively identify, design, and solve creative problems.

ART.VA.II.8.7    Apply preliminaries, possibilities, and drafts in the creative problem solving process.

ART.VA.V.8.2   Effectively recognize and describe the skills used in visual arts careers.

     Objective:   Students will learn about the Illustration career path and design their own movie poster.

     Agenda:

Monday: Students will continue to work on their movie posters on the computer.

Tuesday: Students will continue to work on their movie posters on the computer.

Wednesday: Students will finish their movie posters and complete a self-evaluation.

Thursday: Students will be introduced to the Advertising career path and will complete a research worksheet about Advertising.

Friday:  Students will be introduced to the Package/Label Re-design project.  Students will plan out how they want to re-design their package/label.

7th Grade Art: 3rd and 5th hours

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.2    Understand the concept of proper use of art materials and using tools safely and responsibly at an emerging level.

ART.VA.I.7.5    Produce and exhibit a final product that demonstrates quality craftsmanship and technique at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.1  Identify, design, and solve creative problems at an emerging level.

Objective:  Students will create a cartoon character out of paper mache.

Agenda:

Monday:   Students will work on painting their paper mache characters.

Tuesday:  Students will work on painting their paper mache characters.

Wednesday:  Students will work on painting their paper mache characters.

Thursday:  Students will work on painting their paper mache characters.Students will finish painting their paper mache characters and will complete a self-evaluation.

Friday:  Students will finish painting their paper mache characters and will complete a self-evaluation.

6th Grade Art: 2nd and 6th hours

Essential Question: How do life experiences impact our Art?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.6.7    Create preliminaries, possibilities, and drafts at a developing level.

ART.VA.II.6.1  Identify, design, and solve creative problems at a developing level.

ART.VA.I.6.4  Develop reflective thinking skills by observing, analyzing, and critically evaluating works of art for the purpose of improving technical quality.

Objective:  Students will learn about perspective drawing and create a painting using perspective.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will be introduced to perspective drawing with a powerpoint.  Students will draw preliminary sketches of one-point perspective drawing.

Tuesday:  Students will begin drawing the layouts for their paintings, using one-point perspective.

Wednesday:  Students will continue working on their one-point perspective drawings.

Thursday:  Students will begin adding details to their one-point perspective drawings.

Friday:   Students will use watercolor paint to paint the background of their one-point perspective drawings.
