Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn about Mandalas and will create their own Mandala.

Agenda:

Monday: Powerpoint, view student examples, begin working on creating mandalas

Tuesday: Review project, students will work on mandalas

Wednesday:Review project, students will work on mandalas

Thursday:Review project, students will work on mandalas

Friday:Review project, students will work on mandalas.

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.3      Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.3    Collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective: Students will learn about contour drawing and will create a contour hand design.

Agenda:

Monday: Powerpoint, view student examples, students will begin working on their contour hand designs

Tuesday: Review project, students will work on their contour hand designs

Wednesday:Review project, students will work on their contour hand designs

Thursday:Review project, students will work on their contour hand designs

Friday:Review project, students will work on their contour hand designs

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective: Students will learn about Op art and will create an Op Art cube.

Agenda:

Monday: Powerpoint, view student work, students will learn how to draw an op art design.

Tuesday: Review project, students will begin working on their op art cubes.

Wednesday:Review project, students will begin working on their op art cubes.

Thursday:Review project, students will begin working on their op art cubes.

Friday:Review project, students will begin working on their op art cubes.

Basic Design: 5th hour

Friday:Review project, students will work on their collage scale drawings.  Students will complete a self-evaluation when finished.

8th Grade Digital Imaging: 6th hour

Objective:  Students will learn the tools in Adobe Illustrator.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will finish AI practice 2 and begin AI practice 3.

Tuesday:  Students will finish AI practice 3 and begin AI practice 4.

Wednesday: Students will finish AI practice 4.

Thursday:  Students will learn how to blend shapes and type on a path in AI.

Friday:Students will create a name design in AI.
