8th Grade Art: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn about Mandalas and will create their own Mandala.

Agenda:

Monday:  Review project, students will work on mandalas.

Tuesday: Review project, students will work on mandalas

Wednesday:  Review project, students will work on mandalas

Thursday:Review project, students will work on mandalas

Friday:  Students will finish their mandalas and will complete a self-evaluation.

7th Grade Art: 2nd hour

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.3      Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.3    Collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective: Students will learn about abstract art and will create an abstract painting with silhouette trees.

Agenda:

Monday: Powerpoint, view student examples, students will begin working on their abstract watercolor backgrounds.

Tuesday: Review project, students will work on their abstract watercolor backgrounds.

Wednesday:  Review project, students will work on their silhouette trees.

Thursday:  Review project, students will work on their silhouette trees.

Friday:Review project, students will finish their paintings and will complete self-evaluations.

6th Grade Art: 3rd hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences impact our Art?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.3      Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.3    Collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective: Students will learn about Op art and will create an Op Art cube.

Agenda:

Monday: Review project, finish working on op art cubes.  Students will be introduced to the Zentangle Animal project.  Students will work on animals after op art cubes are finished.

Tuesday: Review project, students will put their cubes together, students will work on their animals.

Wednesday:Review project, students will work on their zentangle animals.

Thursday:Review project, students will begin working on their zentangle animals.

Friday:Review project, students will begin working on their zentangle animals.

Basic Design: 5th hour

Objective:  Students will learn about value and drawing from observation through an object study.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will be introduced to the object study and will set up their papers for their drawings.  Students will chose an object and begin drawing when ready.

Tuesday:  Review project, students will work on their object study drawings.

Wednesday:  Review project, students will work on their object study drawings..

Thursday:  Review project, students will work on their object study drawings.

Friday:  Review project, students will work on their object study drawings..  Students will complete a self-evaluation when finished.

8th Grade Digital Imaging: 6th hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

Objective:  Students will learn the tools in Adobe Illustrator.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will work on creating a shield in Illustrator, learning about the remaining tools they haven’t used yet.

Tuesday:  Students will work on their shields.

Wednesday: Students will work on their shields.

Thursday:  Students will have a work day to finish any Illustrator projects completed so far.

Friday:  Students will have a work day to finish any Illustrator projects completed so far.
