8th Grade Art: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn about proper facial proportions and create a self-portrait.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will take a pre-test on facial proportions.  Students will learn how to draw a face in proportion.  Students will be introduced to the self-portrait assignment.

Tuesday: Students will begin drawing their self-portraits.

Wednesday: Students will finish drawing their self-portraits.  Students will take a post test on proper facial proportions.

Thursday: Students will begin working on coloring their self-portraits.

Friday:  Students will work on their self-portraits.

7th Grade Art: 2nd hour

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.3      Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.3    Collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective:  To learn about monochromatic color schemes and will paint a monochromatic painting.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will mix colors for their painting a paint a value scale.

Tuesday:  Students will begin painting their drawings.

Wednesday:  Students will work on their monochromatic paintings.

Thursday:  Students will work on their monochromatic paintings.

Friday:  Students will work on their monochromatic paintings.

6th Grade Art: 3rd hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences impact our Art?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.3      Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.3    Collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective: Students will learn about James Rizzi and will create a project in his style.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will finish coloring their James Rizzi images.  Students will complete a self-evaluation.

Tuesday:  Students will be introduced to the Minecraft Self-portrait project.  Students will begin drawing the outlines for their projects.

Wednesday:  Students will work on their self-portraits.

Thursday:  Students will work on their self-portraits.

Friday:  Students will work on their self-portraits.

Basic Design: 5th hour

Friday:  Students will work on their self-portraits.

8th Grade Digital Imaging: 6th hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

Objective:  Students will learn about Industrial Design and create a headboard and footboard for a hospital bed.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will be introduced to the Industrial Design career.  Students will complete a worksheet about Industrial Design.

Tuesday:  Students will view a powerpoint about the Stryker project and will begin drawing a sketch of their design.

Wednesday: Students will begin drawing their design in Illustrator.

Thursday:  Students will continue to draw their design in Illustrator.

Friday:  Students will complete their design in Illustrator and will complete a self-evaluation.
