8th Grade Art: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn about ceramics and create a creature out of clay.

Agenda:

Monday:Students will be introduced to clay!  They will watch a powerpoint presentation about the different stages of clay and examples of former student artwork.  Students will get their ideas sketched out on paper for what they want to make.

Tuesday:  Students will work on their clay projects.

Wednesday:  Students will work on their clay projects.

Thursday:Students will work on their clay projects.

Friday:Students will work on their clay projects.

7th Grade Art: 2nd hour

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.3      Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.3    Collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective:  To learn about paper mache and create a cartoon character out of paper mache.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will work on their paper mache characters.

Tuesday:  Students will begin sculpting the armature for their paper mache characters.

Wednesday:  Students will work on their paper mache characters.

Thursday:  Students will work on their paper mache characters.

Friday:  Students will work on their paper mache characters.

6th Grade Art: 3rd hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences impact our Art?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.3      Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.3    Collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective: Students will learn about recycled art and will create a paper mache minion.

Agenda:

Monday:Students will paint their minions.

Tuesday:  Students will add the final details to their minions.  Students will complete a self-evaluation.

Wednesday:  Students will be introduced to perspective drawing.  Students will begin drawing an aquarium.

Thursday:  Students will work on their perspective aquarium drawings.

Friday:  Students will work on their perspective aquarium drawings.

Basic Design: 5th hour

Monday:   Students will work on their paintings.

Tuesday:  Students will work on their drawings for their paintings.

Wednesday:  Students will begin painting their designs.

Thursday:  Students will work on their paintings.

Friday:  Students will work on their paintings.

8th Grade Digital Imaging: 6th hour

Monday:   Students will work on their shoe designs in Illustrator.

Tuesday:  Students will work on their shoe designs in Illustrator.

Wednesday:  Students will work on their shoe designs in Illustrator.

Thursday:   Students will finish their shoe designs in Illustrator.  Students will complete a self-evaluation.

Friday:  Students will be introduced to video game design.  Students will complete a worksheet about the video game design career.
