8th Grade Art: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn about Pop Art and will create a painting of Superman or Wonder Woman.

Agenda:

Monday:Students will be introduced to Pop Art.  They will begin a grid drawing of Superman or Wonder woman.

Tuesday:  Students will work on their Pop Art Comics drawings.

Wednesday:  Students will work on their Pop Art Comics drawings.

Thursday:  Students will work on their Pop Art Comics drawings.

Friday:  Students will work on their Pop Art Comics drawings.

7th Grade Art: 2nd hour

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.3      Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.3    Collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective:  To learn about Chuck Close and create a self-portrait in his style.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will be introduced to self-portraits.  Students will learn about Chuck Close.  Students will begin drawing a self-portrait in they style of Chuck Close.

Tuesday:  Students will work on their self-portraits.

Wednesday:  Students will work on their self-portraits.

Thursday:  Students will work on their self-portraits.

Friday:  Students will work on their self-portraits.

6th Grade Art: 3rd hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences impact our Art?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.3      Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.3    Collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective: Students will learn about perspective drawing and create an aquarium painting in one-point perspective.

Agenda:

Monday:Students will work on coloring sea animals for their aquarium paintings.  Students will cut them out and glue them onto their aquarium paintings when ready.

Tuesday:  Students will finish their aquarium paintings.  Students will complete a self-evaluation.

Wednesday:  Students will be introduced to grid drawing.  Students will choose a simple cartoon character that they want to paint and will print it off the Internet.  Students will draw their grids.

Thursday:  Students will begin drawing square by square from their picture to their gridded paper.

Friday:  Students will work on their grid drawings.

Basic Design: 5th hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

Objective:  Students will learn about color theory and will paint a design using specific color combinations.

Agenda:

Monday:   Students will work on their paintings.

Tuesday:  Students will work on their drawings for their paintings.

Wednesday:  Students will finish their paintings and complete a self-evaluation.  Students will be introduced to the Beyond the Border water color painting project.  Students will decide what they want to paint and will sketch out their idea on paper.

Thursday:  Students will work on their marine life drawings.

Friday:  Students will work on their marine life drawings.

8th Grade Digital Imaging: 6th hour

Agenda:

Monday:   Students will work on their game cover designs in Illustrator.

Tuesday:  Students will work on their game cover designs in Illustrator.

Wednesday:  Students will work on their game cover designs in Illustrator.

Thursday:   Students will finish their game cover designs in Illustrator.  Students will complete a self-evaluation.

Friday:  Students will be introduced to Illustration.  Students will complete a worksheet about the Illustration career.
