8th Grade Art: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn about Pop Art and will create a painting of Superman or Wonder Woman.

Agenda:

Monday:   Students will work on their Pop Art Comics drawings.  Students will start painting when ready.

Tuesday:  Students will work on their Pop Art Comics drawings/paintings.

Wednesday:  Students will work on their Pop Art Comics drawings/paintings.

Thursday:  Students will work on their Pop Art Comics drawings/paintings.

Friday:  Students will finish their Pop Art Comics drawings/paintings.  Students will complete a self-evaluation when finished.

7th Grade Art: 2nd hour

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.3      Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.3    Collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective:  Students will create an image using collage.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will work on their totem pole sections.

Tuesday:  Students will work on their totem pole sections.

Wednesday:  Students will be introduced to the collage project.  Students will view a powerpoint about the collage project and will begin drawing an image for their collage project.

Thursday:  Students will begin working on finding colorful images from magazines to cut out and glue onto their drawings.

Friday:  Students will continue to work on their collage projects.

6th Grade Art: 3rd hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences impact our Art?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.3      Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.3    Collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective: Students will create a self-portrait in a “selfie” style.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will view a powerpoint about the selfie self-portrait project.  Students will take a photo of themselves and print it.  Students will begin drawing the outline of a smart phone.

Tuesday:  Students will crop their photos and will draw their self-portrait onto their smart phone drawing.  When finished, students will begin designing the background and some “apps” that they want to have on their drawings.

Wednesday:  Students will outline their drawings with sharpie marker when the drawing is completed.  Students will color their self-portraits when ready.

Thursday:  Students will work on their self-portraits.

Friday:  Students will work on their self-portraits.

Basic Design: 5th hour

Friday:  Students will finish their multi-media drawings.  Students will complete a self-evaluation when finished.

8th Grade Digital Imaging: 6th hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Objective:  Students will learn about the Advertising Career and will re-design a food package.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will be introduced to Advertising.  Students will complete a worksheet about the Advertising career.

Tuesday:  Students will work on re-creating a package design.  When finished sketching out their ideas, students will begin designing their package in Illustrator.

Wednesday:  Students will work on their package designs.

Thursday:  Students will work on their package designs.

Friday:  Students will work on their package designs.  Students will complete a self-evaluation when finished.
