8th Grade Digital Imaging: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn the classroom expectations and procedures and will be introduced to the Elements and Principles of Design.  Students will also take the class pre-test.

Agenda:

Monday: Read Syllabus, go over classroom expectations and procedures, view class powerpoint

Tuesday: Review expectations and procedures, take pre-test, discussion of Elements and Principles of Design – tree map, create folders on the computers.

Wednesday: Students will be introduced to Adobe Illustrator.  They will watch a powerpoint presentation and then will be introduced to keyboard shortcuts.  Students will work on an Illustrator Scavenger Hunt.

Thursday:  Students will finish the Illustrator scavenger hunt.  Students will be introduced to the pen tool in Illustrator.  Students will work on the AI practice 1.

Friday:  Students will finish AI practice 1 and begin AI practice 2.  Students will be given their first homework assignment.

7th Grade Digital Imaging: 2nd & 3rd hour

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.3      Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.3    Collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective: Students will learn the classroom expectations and procedures and will be introduced to the Elements and Principles of Design.  Students will also take the class pre-test.

Agenda:

Monday: Read Syllabus, go over classroom expectations and procedures, view class powerpoint

Tuesday: Review expectations and procedures, take pre-test, discussion of Elements and Principles of Design – tree map, create folders on the computers.

Wednesday: Students will be introduced to Adobe Photoshop.  They will begin working on a mini project to introduce them to the tools in Photoshop.

Thursday:  Students will work on their mini project.

Friday:  Students will finish the photoshop mini project.  Students will be given their first homework assignment.

Basic Design: 5th hour
