8th Grade Digital Imaging: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn the basic tools in Illustrator.  Students will use those tools in 4 different practice “worksheets” in Illustrator.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will be introduced to the pen tool in Illustrator.  Students will work on the AI practice 1.

Tuesday:  Students will finish AI practice 1 and begin AI practice 2.

Wednesday: Students will finish AI practice 2 and begin AI practice 3.

Thursday:  Students will finish AI practice 3 and begin AI practice 4.

Friday:  Students will finish AI practice 4.

7th Grade Digital Imaging: 2nd & 3rd hour

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.3      Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.3    Collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective: Students will learn the basic tools in Photoshop and create a mini project in Photoshop.  Students will learn about using the cameras in class and will start their first project.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will follow along with the teacher, step-by-step, to complete a mini project in Photoshop demonstrating their knowledge of the tools in Photoshop.

Tuesday: Students will have time to finish the mini-project and save their work to a flash drive.

Wednesday: Students will be introduced to working with cameras and expectations while using them at school.  Students will complete a worksheet about the cameras.

Thursday:  Students will take a camera expectations quiz and will finish the camera worksheet if needed.  Students will be introduced to Andric Ljubodrag and his work.  Students will learn about their first project in Photoshop- the Mini Me project.

Friday:  Students will go in pairs to take the photos for their first project in Photoshop.

Basic Design: 5th hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

Objective:  Students will learn about quilling and create a quilling project.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will work on their quilling projects.

Tuesday:  Students will work on their quilling projects.

Wednesday:  Students will finish their quilling projects.  Students will complete a self-evaluation.

Thursday:  Students will be introduced to Keith Haring and his work.  Students will learn about their project.  Students will begin making the Haring shape for their project.

Friday:Students will begin putting their Haring shapes together for paper mache.

Friday:  Students will finish their Name Design projects.  Students will complete a self-evaluation.
