8th Grade Digital Imaging: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn the basic tools in Illustrator.  Students will use those tools in 4 different practice “worksheets” in Illustrator.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will finish AI practice 2 and begin AI practice 3.

Tuesday:  Students will finish AI practice 3 and begin AI practice 4.

Wednesday: M-Step Practice Test-No class

Thursday:  M-Step Practice Test-No class

Friday:  No School!  Spring Break!

7th Grade Digital Imaging: 2nd & 3rd hour

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.3      Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.3    Collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective:  Students will learn about using the cameras in class and will start their first project.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will be introduced to working with cameras and expectations while using them at school.  Students will take a camera expectations quiz and will finish the camera worksheet if needed.

Tuesday:  Students will be introduced to Andric Ljubodrag and his work.  Students will learn about their first project in Photoshop- the Mini Me project.  Students will take photos for their Mini Me project.

Wednesday: Students will learn how to adjust their photos to create the Mini Me project.  Students will work on their Mini Me project.

Thursday:  Students will finish their Mini Me project, save and submit for a grade.  Students will complete their self-evaluations.

Friday:  No School!  Spring Break!

Basic Design: 5th hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Objective:  Students will learn about Keith Haring and create a Keith Haring figure out of paper mache.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will begin putting their Haring shapes together for paper mache.

Tuesday:  Students will work on their Haring sculptures.

Wednesday:  Students will work on their Haring sculptures.

Thursday:  Students will work on their Haring sculptures.

Friday:  No School! Spring Break!

8th Grade Art: 6th hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will create a Mandala with a nature theme.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will be introduced to the Mandala project.  Students will begin designing their triangle piece for their Mandala.

Tuesday:  Students will work on tracing their triangle piece into the 8 sections of their Mandala.

Wednesday: Students will work on tracing their triangle piece into the 8 sections of their Mandala.  When finished, students will outline their design with a sharpie marker.

Thursday:  Students will work on their Mandala projects.  When finished outlining, students will begin coloring their Mandalas with colored pencils.

Friday:  No School!  Spring Break!
