8th Grade Digital Imaging: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn the basic tools in Illustrator.  

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will be reminded of the tools in Illustrator and will finish practice 4.

Tuesday:  M-Step Testing-No class

Wednesday:  M-Step Testing-No class

Thursday:  Students will finish practice 4.  Students will finish their Name Designs.

Friday:  Students will learn about the Type on a Path tool and the Blending shapes tool.

7th Grade Digital Imaging: 2nd & 3rd hour

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.3      Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.3    Collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective:  Students will learn about Dorothea Lange and create a photo that has a focal point.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will be introduced to Rene Margritte and Surrealism through a powerpoint.  Students will view former students’ work.  Students will follow the directions to create the “What’s in my Head” collage.

Tuesday:  Students will continue to work on their collages.

Wednesday: Students will finish their projects, save them to flash drives and complete a grade sheet.

Thursday:  Students will be introduced to the “Who’s in School” project.  Students will take photos for their project. 

Friday:  Students will view a demonstration on how to create their project.  Students will work on their projects.

Basic Design: 5th hour

Monday:  Students will work on their Haring sculptures.

Tuesday:  Students will work on their Haring sculptures.

Wednesday:  Students will work on their Haring sculptures.

Thursday:  Students will work on their Haring sculptures.

Friday:  Students will finish their Haring sculptures and complete a self-evaluation.

Objective:  Students will create a Mandala with a nature theme.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will work on their Mandala projects.  When finished outlining, students will begin coloring their Mandalas with colored pencils.

Tuesday:  Students will work on their Mandala projects.

Wednesday:  Students will work on their Mandala projects.

Thursday:  Students will work on their Mandala projects.

Friday:  Students will finish their Mandala projects and complete a self-evaluation.
