8th Grade Digital Imaging: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn about the Graphic Design career and create a personal logo in Illustrator.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will learn about the Graphic Design career and will begin to sketch out ideas for their personal logo.

Tuesday:  Students will finish sketching their logo ideas and will narrow their ideas down to 3.

Wednesday:  Students will choose one of their top 3 designs to finalize in Illustrator.  Students will begin designing their logo in Illustrator.

Thursday:  Students will continue to create their logo in Illustrator.

Friday:  Students will finish creating their logo in Illustrator.  Students will complete a self-evaluation.

7th Grade Digital Imaging: 2nd & 3rd hour

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.3      Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.3    Collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective:  Students will learn about Dorthea Lange and create a book of Straight Photography.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will continue to take photography for their photo books.

Tuesday:  Students will be shown how to create the pages for their photo books.  Students will work on their photo books and any other projects that need to be finished.

Wednesday:  Students will work on finishing all projects.

Thursday:  Students will work on finishing all projects.

Friday:  Students will work on finishing all projects.

Basic Design: 5th hour

Monday:  Students will view a demonstration on how to create a relief sculpture with recycled materials.  Students will begin creating their relief sculptures.

Tuesday:  Students will work on their relief sculptures.

Wednesday:  Students will work on their relief sculptures.

Thursday:  Students will work on their relief sculptures.

Friday:  Students will work on their relief sculptures.

Monday:  Students will finish their multi-media pear projects.

Tuesday:  Students will be introduced to clay.  Students will sketch their ideas for their clay projects.

Wednesday:  Students will begin to create their clay creatures.

Thursday:  Students will work on their clay creatures.

Friday:  Students will work on their clay creatures.
