8th Grade Digital Imaging: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn about the Video Game Design career and create a cover for a video game.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will learn about the Video Game Design career and the Game Cover project.  Students will begin to sketch out ideas for their design.

Tuesday:  Students will finish sketching their design ideas for their project.  Students will begin creating their design in Illustrator.

Wednesday:  Students will work on creating their designs in Illustrator.

Thursday:  Students will continue to create their designs in Illustrator.

Friday:  Students will finish creating their designs in Illustrator.  Students will complete a self-evaluation.

7th Grade Digital Imaging: 2nd & 3rd hour

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.3      Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.3    Collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective:  Students will learn about Gordon Parks and will create a magazine cover.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will view a powerpoint about Gordon Parks and his work.  Students will view a demonstration about the project.  Students will begin to plan out the cover of their magazine.

Tuesday:  Students will continue to plan out their magazine cover.  Students will begin creating their magazine cover in Photoshop if time allows.

Wednesday:  Students will continue creating their magazine covers.

Thursday:  Students will continue creating their magazine covers.

Friday:  Students will finish their magazine covers.  Students will complete a self-evaluation when finished.

Basic Design: 5th hour

Monday:  Students will view a powerpoint about Deconstructed Books.  Students will sketch their ideas for their book.

Tuesday:  Students will work on their books.

Wednesday:  Students will work on their books.

Thursday:  Students will work on their books.

Friday:  Students will finish their books.  Students will complete a self-evaluation when finished.

Monday: Students will work on their Superman or Wonder Woman drawings.

Tuesday:  Students will work on their Superman or Wonder Woman drawings.

Wednesday:  Students will work on their Superman or Wonder Woman drawings.

Thursday:  Students will begin to paint their Superman or Wonder Woman drawings.

Friday:  Students will work on their Superman or Wonder Woman paintings.
