8th Grade Digital Imaging: 1st hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn about the Illustration career and create a Movie Poster.

Agenda:

Monday:  No school-Memorial day

Tuesday:  Students will learn about the Illustration career and the Movie Poster project.  Students will begin to sketch out ideas for their design.

Wednesday:  Students will finish sketching their design ideas for their project.  Students will begin creating their design in Illustrator.

Thursday:  Students will continue to create their designs in Illustrator.

Friday:  Students will finish creating their designs in Illustrator.  Students will complete a self-evaluation.

7th Grade Digital Imaging: 2nd & 3rd hour

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.3      Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.3    Collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective:  Students will learn about Street Artists Pejac and Banksy and will create a Forced Perspective photograph.

Agenda:

Monday:  No school-Memorial day

Tuesday:   Students will view a powerpoint about street artists Pejac and Banksy.  Students will view a demonstration about the project.  Students will brainstorm their ideas for their project with a tree map.

Wednesday:  Students will take photos for their project.  Students will work in Photoshop to complete their projects.

Thursday:  Students will finish their forced perspective photos and complete a self-evaluation.  Students will view a powerpoint about their next photography assignment: Multiples of me.  Students will brainstorm their ideas about what they will be doing in their photo.

Friday:  Students will take their photos for the Multiples of me project.  Students will begin working in Photoshop to create these photos.

Basic Design: 5th hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Objective:  Students will research an artist.  Students will write a research paper about that artist and create a project based on that artist’s work.

Agenda:

Monday:  No school- Memorial day

Tuesday:   Students will view a powerpoint about the final project.  Students will choose their artist and start researching.

Wednesday:  Students will work on their final projects.

Thursday:  Students will work on their final projects.

Friday:  Students will work on their final projects.

Objective:  Students will create a Pop Art Comic painting of Superman or Wonder Woman.

Monday: No school-Memorial day

Tuesday:  Students will work on their Superman or Wonder Woman paintings.

Wednesday:  Students will finish their Superman or Wonder Woman paintings.  Students will complete a self-evaluation.

Thursday:  Students will learn about the Selfie project.  Students will view a powerpoint.  Students will take photos for their project.  

Friday:  Students will work on their Selfie projects.
