7th Grade Art: 2nd, 3rd and 5th hours

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.3      Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.3    Collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective:  Students will learn about watercolor painting and Abstract art.  Students will create an abstract watercolor painting with a tree silhouette.

Agenda:

Monday:  Warm up, powerpoint about abstract art, watercolor techniques practice

Tuesday: Warm up, tape border of paper, paint abstract background

Wednesday:  Warm up, paint tree silhouettes

Thursday:  Warm up, finish painting tree silhouettes

Friday:  Warm up, finish any part of the project, complete I CAN grade sheets

6th Grade Digital Art: 4th hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence art?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn about Andy Warhol and will create a Pop Art Yourself project.

Agenda:

Monday:  View Andy Warhol powerpoint, take photos for Pop Art Yourself project, begin adjusting the photos for the project.

Tuesday: Warm up, finish adjusting photos, begin “painting” the photos and repeating them

Wednesday: Warm up, finish “painting” the photos, put all 4 photos together

Thursday: Take all 4 photos and repeat them to create a full page of repeated photos

Friday: Finish working on Pop Art Yourself project, I Can grade sheets-discussion and complete, save work to flash drives

8th Grade Digital Art: 6th hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will be introduced to the tools in Adobe Illustrator.

Agenda:

Monday:  Finish step-by-step follow along to make a shield in Illustrator, create Name Design in Illustrator, save all work to flash drives

Tuesday: Learn about Graphic Design and Logos, complete Graphic Design research, begin sketching 16 different ideas for personal logos

Wednesday: Finish sketching 16 designs, narrow ideas down to 3 and write about how they could be created, choose favorite design and begin creating it in Illustrator

Thursday: Continue creating personal logo designs in Illustrator

Friday: Finish creating personal logo designs in Illustrator, save and complete I CAN grade sheet
