7th Grade Art: 2nd, 3rd and 5th hours

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.3      Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.3    Collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective:  Students will learn about origami and will create a symmetrical radial design using origami paper folds.

Agenda:

Monday:  Complete I Can grade sheets for watercolor/tree silhouettes.  Finish all unfinished work.  (Work day)

Tuesday: Powerpoint about origami, demo 4 main folds, begin working on project

Wednesday:  (Sub all day)  Origami worksheet

Thursday:  Continue working on origami project

Friday:  Finish origami project, complete I CAN statements

6th Grade Digital Art: 4th hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence art?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn about Grant Wood and will create a landscape painting in Photoshop.

Agenda:

Monday:  View Grant Wood powerpoint, complete Grant Wood artifacts.

Tuesday:  Warm up,  “Follow along” step-by-step how to create a landscape in photoshop, and add color to each layer of the landscape.

Wednesday: (Sub all day) Grant Wood article and questions.

Thursday: Warm up, add details to the landscape painting.

Friday: Finish working on landscape paintings, I Can grade sheets-discussion and complete, save work to flash drives

8th Grade Digital Art: 6th hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will be introduced to the Graphic Design career and will create a personal logo design.

Agenda:

Monday:  Finish sketching 16 designs, narrow ideas down to 3 and write about how they could be created.

Tuesday:  Choose favorite design and begin creating it in Illustrator.

Wednesday: (Sub all day)  Article and Lancer notes about Logo Design.

Thursday: Continue creating personal logo designs in Illustrator

Friday: Finish creating personal logo designs in Illustrator, save and complete I CAN grade sheet
