7th Grade Art: 2nd, 3rd and 5th hours

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.3      Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.3    Collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective:  Students will learn about Wayne Thiebaud and will create a Candy Composition based on the Rule of Thirds.

Agenda:

Monday:  Finish origami project, complete I CAN statements

Tuesday: Powerpoint about Wayne Thiebaud, plan out compositions with candy on Rule of Thirds card, begin sketching out composition-scaling it to larger paper

Wednesday:  Finish sketching candy composition on large paper

Thursday:  Demo about blending oil pastels, complete oil pastel practice sheet

Friday:  Begin coloring compositions with oil pastels

6th Grade Digital Art: 4th hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence art?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn about Frida Kahlo and will create a Day of the Dead Skull in Photoshop.

Agenda:

Monday:  View Frida Kahlo powerpoint, complete Frida Kahlo artifacts.

Tuesday:   “Follow along” step-by-step how to fill a Day of the Dead Skull in photoshop, with colors, shapes and patterns.

Wednesday:  (Short class-assembly schedule) Frida Kahlo article and questions, work on skulls if time allows

Thursday: Continue working on Day of the Dead skulls

Friday:   Finish working on Day of the Dead skulls, complete I CAN grade sheets when finished, save work to flash drives

8th Grade Digital Art: 6th hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will be introduced to the Fine Arts career and will create an image in the style of Romero Britto.

Agenda:

Monday:  Powerpoint about Romero Britto, Fine Artist career research, sketch of idea for project.

Tuesday:  Finish sketching idea, begin creating “Britto” design in Illustrator.

Wednesday: Continue to work on Britto Designs.

Thursday:  Continue to work on Britto Designs.

Friday: Finish working on Britto Designs., save and complete I CAN grade sheet
