7th Grade Art: 2nd, 3rd and 5th hours

Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.3      Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.3    Collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective:  Students will learn about Wayne Thiebaud and will create a Candy Composition based on the Rule of Thirds.

Agenda:

Monday:  Work on coloring candy compositions with oil pastels

Tuesday: Work on (and possibly finish) candy compositions with oil pastels, complete I CAN grade sheets when finished

Wednesday:  1/2 day AM schedule for conferences

Thursday:  Finish Candy Compositions with oil pastels, complete I CAN grade sheets when finished.  Powerpoint about Day of the Dead Sugar Skulls.  Demo how to draw skulls, students follow along.

Friday:  Students will add details to their skulls.

6th Grade Digital Art: 4th hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence art?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn about Georgia O’Keeffe and will create an Abstracted Flower in Photoshop.

Agenda:

Monday:  View Georgia O’Keeffe powerpoint, complete Georgia O’Keeffe artifacts.

Tuesday:   “Follow along” step-by-step how to create an abstracted flower.

Wednesday:  No class- 1/2 day AM schedule for conferences

Thursday: Continue working on abstract flowers

Friday:   Finish working on Abstract Flowers, complete I CAN grade sheets when finished, save work to flash drives

8th Grade Digital Art: 6th hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will be introduced to the Fashion Design career and will create a shoe advertisement.

Agenda:

Monday:  Powerpoint about Fashion Design, Fine Artist career research, sketch of idea for shoe design.

Tuesday:  Finish sketching idea, begin creating shoes design in Illustrator.

Wednesday: No class-1/2 day AM schedule for conferences

Thursday:  Continue to work on Shoe Designs.

Friday: Finish working on Shoe Designs., save and complete I CAN grade sheet
