Essential Question: How does Art shape our view of the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.3      Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.3    Collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective:  Students will create a paper mache cartoon character.

Agenda:

Monday:  Paper mache characters, start painting when finished paper macheing

Tuesday:  Paint paper mache characters

Wednesday:  Paint paper mache characters

Thursday:  Paint paper mache characters

Friday:  Finish painting paper mache characters, complete self-assessment when finished

Agenda:

Monday:  Step-by-step instruction: how to draw a paradox-practice sheet.

Tuesday: Continue drawing a paradox on larger paper

Wednesday:  Finish paradox drawings

Thursday:  Elements and Principles of design review project

Friday:  Elements and Principles of design review project

6th Grade Digital Art: 4th hour

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence art?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn about Vincent Van Gogh and will create a “post-impressionist” style self-portrait in Photoshop.

Agenda:

Monday:  “Follow along” step-by-step how to make a self-portrait in Photoshop

Tuesday:  “Follow along” step-by-step how to fill in with colors and add details

Wednesday:  Work on self-portraits

Thursday:  Work on self-portraits

Friday:  Finish working on self-portraits, complete I CAN grade sheets when finished, save work to flash drives

8th Grade Digital Art: 6th hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will be introduced to the Illustration career and will create a Movie Poster.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will finish drawing their designs and will begin creating their designs on the computer in Illustrator.

Tuesday:  Students will work on their movie posters

Wednesday: Students will work on their movie posters

Thursday:  Students will work on their movie posters

Friday: Students will finish their movie posters and complete a self-evaluation
