7th Grade Digital Art: 1st, 2nd and 3rd hours

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.3      Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.3    Collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective:  Students will learn about Ansel Adams and create a Focal Point project in Photoshop.

Agenda:

Monday: Review expectations, research Ansel Adams, finish and turn in Mini Me projects if not already done

Tuesday: View examples of Focal Point projects, take photos for Focal Point project, upload photos

Wednesday: Demo how to create focal points in photoshop, work time

Thursday: Finish focal point projects, upload to Google Classroom, complete self-assessment 

Friday: Research Rene Magritte for Self-Portrait collage project

8th Grade Basic Design: 5th hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn about Wayne Thiebaud, additive and subtractive sculpture by creating a clay cake.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will be introduced to Wayne Thiebaud and his style of work.  Students will design their clay project.  Students will finish Quilling if needed.

Tuesday:  Students will be introduced to working with clay.  Students will begin creating their clay cakes.

Wednesday:  Students will work on their clay cakes.

Thursday:  Students will work on their clay cakes.

Friday:  Students will finish working on their clay cakes.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will create a shield in Illustrator using the tools they have learned.

Agenda:

Monday: Review expectations, students will follow along step-by-step to create a shield in Illustrator

Tuesday: Students will finish creating a shield in Illustrator

Wednesday: Students will research the Graphic Design career and will be introduced to the personal logo project

Thursday:  Students will begin drawing their ideas for their personal logo

Friday: Students will finish drawing their personal logo ideas and narrow their ideas down to one to begin creating in Illustrator
