7th Grade Digital Art: 1st, 2nd and 3rd hours

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.3      Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.3    Collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective:  Students will learn about Ansel Adams and create a Focal Point project in Photoshop.

Agenda:

Monday:  Finish focal point projects, upload to Google Classroom, complete self-assessment

Tuesday:  Research Rene Magritte for Self-Portrait collage project

Wednesday: Work on Self-portrait collage

Thursday:  Work on Self-portrait collage

Friday:  Finish self-portrait collage, upload to Google Classroom, complete self-assessment

8th Grade Basic Design: 5th hour

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.II.8.3    Effectively collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas.

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn about Wayne Thiebaud, additive and subtractive sculpture by creating a clay cake.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will finish working on their clay cakes.

Tuesday:  Students will be introduced to Keith Haring and will design a sculpture in his style

Wednesday:  Students will work on their Keith Haring sculptures

Thursday:  Students will work on their Keith Haring sculptures

Friday:  Students will work on their Keith Haring sculptures

Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn about Graphic Design and will design a personal logo.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will finish their 16 logo sketches and begin working on creating their logo in Illustrator.

Tuesday: Students will finish creating their logo in Illustrator

Wednesday: Students will research the Fine Arts career 

Thursday:  Students will be introduced to artist Romero Britto and will sketch a design in his style

Friday: Students will finish their sketches and begin creating their design in Illustrator.
