Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.7.3      Demonstrate the use of successful visual vocabulary at an emerging level.

ART.VA.II.7.3    Collaborate, communicate, and work with others to create new ideas at an emerging level.

ART.VA.III.7.1    Critically observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at an emerging level.

Objective:  Students will learn about M.C. Escher and will create a mandala in Photoshop.

Agenda:

Monday:  MC Escher research notes

Tuesday:  How to create a Mandala demo, work time

Wednesday:  Work on Mandalas

Thursday:  Work on Mandalas

Friday:  Finish Mandalas, complete self-assessment and upload to google classroom

8th Grade Basic Design: 5th hour

ART.VA.III.8.4    Effectively use critical thinking strategies to observe, compare, and contrast artworks.

ART.VA.III.8.5    Develop and defend informed aesthetic opinions about works of art using effective artistic vocabulary.

Objective:  Students will learn about Keith Haring and will create a paper mache sculpture in his style.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will work on their Keith Haring sculptures

Tuesday:  Students will work on their Keith Haring sculptures

Wednesday:  Students will work on their Keith Haring sculptures

Thursday:  Students will work on their Keith Haring sculptures

Friday:  Students will finish their Keith Haring sculptures

Objective:  Students will learn about Fashion Design and will create a shoe design.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will research Fashion design.

Tuesday: Students will finish their Stryker designs, complete a self-assessment and turn in their work to the google classroom.

Wednesday:  Students will learn about the shoe design project and will sketch out their ideas.

Thursday:  Students will work on their shoe designs in Illustrator.

Friday:  Students will work on their shoe designs in Illustrator.
