Essential Question: How does art impact our place in the world?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.8.1   Apply understanding of the varying qualities of materials, techniques, media technology, and processes to the selection of appropriate tools and media to design and solve creative problems and achieve desired artistic effects.

ART.VA.I.8.5   Effectively produce and exhibit a final product that demonstrates quality craftsmanship and technique.

ART.VA.II.8.7   Apply preliminaries, possibilities, and drafts in the creative problem solving process.

ART.VA.IV.8.2   Articulate an understanding of the historical, social, and cultural contexts of artwork with aesthetic sophistication.

Objective:  Students will create a painting of Superman or Wonder Woman in a Pop Art style.

Agenda:

Monday: Students will work on drawing their Pop Art Comic projects.

Tuesday: Students will work on drawing their Pop Art Comic projects.

Wednesday: Students will work on drawing their Pop Art Comic projects.  When finished drawing, students will begin painting their projects.

Thursday: Students will work on their Pop Art Comic projects.

Friday: No School – mid-winter break!

Essential Question: How do life experiences influence Art?

Content Standards:

ART.VA.I.6.5 Produce and exhibit a final product that demonstrates quality craftsmanship and technique at a developing level.

ART.VA.I.6.2 Develop the concept of proper use of art materials and using tools safely and responsibly.

ART.VA.I.6.4 Develop reflective thinking skills by observing, analyzing, and critically evaluating works of art for the purpose of improving technical quality.

ART.VA.II.6.7 Create preliminaries, possibilities, and drafts at a developing level.

ART.VA.III.6.1 Observe, describe, and analyze visual characteristics at a developing level.

Objective:  Students will learn about James Rizzi and create an oil pastel project in his style.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will be reminded of the project and the expectations/procedures of using watercolor paints.  Students will finish painting their landscapes and complete a self-evaluation of the project.

Tuesday:  Students will be introduced to artist James Rizzi and his artwork.  Students will then begin drawing a project in the style of James Rizzi.

Wednesday:  Students will be introduced to oil pastels.  Students will begin using oil pastels to color their projects.

Thursday:  Students will continue coloring their projects.  When finished they will complete a self-evaluation of their projects.

Friday:   No school – mid-winter break!

Monday:  Students will work on their paintings.

Tuesday:  Students will work on their paintings.

Wednesday:  Students will be introduced to a mixed media project.  Students will view a powerpoint about the mixed media project and will begin designing their project.

Thursday: Students will work on their mixed media projects.

Friday: No School – mid-winter break!

Objective:  Students will create a headboard and footboard design for a Stryker S3 Bed.

Agenda:

Monday:  Students will be introduced to the Graphic Design career field and the Medical Biotechnology unit by looking at the Stryker S3 bed and they will design a headboard and footboard for the bed.

Tuesday:  Students will work on their Stryker bed designs.

Wednesday: Students will work on their Stryker bed designs.

Thursday: Students will finish their Stryker bed designs.

Friday: No School – mid-winter break!

Wednesday: Students will be introduced to the Pop art comics painting project.  Students will draw their grids for their drawing.

Thursday: Students will begin drawing their comic square-by-square. 

Friday: Students will work on drawing their comic.  Snow day

Monday:  Students will learn about Ted Harrison through a powerpoint.  They will complete a warm up about him and then get an image of a landscape from the Internet to use as inspiration for their landscape.   Sub all day.

Tuesday:  Students will learn about Ted Harrison through a powerpoint.  They will complete a warm up about him and then get an image of a landscape from the Internet to use as inspiration for their landscape.

Wednesday:  Students will draw their landscape based on the landscape image that they printed off from the Internet.  Students will outline their drawings with a white crayon.

Thursday:  Students will be introduced to watercolor painting through a video about different watercolor techniques.  Students will be reminded of proper watercolor painting procedures and expectations. Students will begin painting their pictures.

Friday:   Students will continue to paint their landscapes.  Snow day

Monday:  Students will view a powerpoint about the Street Artist Shepard Fairey.  Students will be introduced to the Black History Month poster project.  They will chose an African American to research and create a poster about.  They will then begin creating their poster about that person in the style of Shepard Fairey.  Sub all day- finish magazine covers.
